A friend.

" Think about the positive side honey, you get to meet new people, a whole new opportunity will open up for you" my mom's words echoed inside my head as I was trying to unpack.

" Honey I know this is not what you want but everything happens for a reason, now come on help us unpack the kitchen." My dad said knocking on my door as I nodded in agreement.

Wow that's my dad's classic line now.

Why is this happening?!

I can't control my emotions anymore, I moved across the country and it's not easy to leave your whole life behind especially, if you have an amazing boyfriend and a best friend you cannot  live without.

" Guys, here you go dinner's done" my mom got a tray as she came into the living room.

Well, it's kinda nice though I finally get some of my own space. Plus I finally get to design my room the way I want.

" Don't forget guys first day of school tomorrow" mom said picking up the plates.

" Ugh already?" Ava sighed.

" You gotta do what you gotta do and yes that reminds me we are going to take a walk in the park as a family. You know walk around town, get to know a lot more people" mom suggested.

Great!

Just great. I try so hard to NOT socialize and mom tries to ruin it!

Phew! I hope we don't meet any people. It might be a good thing though atleast I won't be lonely first day of school.

Be positive Brooke, that's literally the only thing I can do.

" Brooke?" Dad asked looking at me.

" Yeah?" I sighed.

" I'm sorry for doing this to you, that too so suddenly." He said.

" It's okay Dad... I'll be fine." I sighed. " I just need some time, to get used to this."

We ate some and I was getting ready for taking that walk dad wants to.

" Come on Brooke, Dad's calling" Chad said standing outside my room.

" Chad wait, how are you okay with this?" I asked.

" It's important to Dad and a new place, a fresh start isn't that bad. Just trust the process." He said and let my room.

We took a walk... a long walk! We stopped and looked around.

" Dad, are we lost?" Ava asked.

" No, ofcourse not! That one " Dad said pointing at the dark road with no lights.

" Are you sure, Dad? It's dark."

" What are your phones for?" He smirked as me and Chad groaned.

We started walking towards that road as someone came in front of us and stopped.

" Uh you must be new here, I am Sosan" the lady suddenly started shaking mom's hand.

She was wearing tights and a loose shirt with extremely loud music coming out of her headphones.

" Yeah we are. How can you tell? I am Denise and this is my husband Ed and my kids Brooke, she is a junior, Chad is a freshmen in college and Ava is 12." My mom pointed at us as we awkwardly waved.

" It's actually pretty easy to tell. You guys are taking that road. Not many take that one, especially not at such a time" she laughed." Oh and you have such wonderful kids. I have five kids of my own . I just live down street. 742.... What about you all?" She curiously asked.

Wow, she was jumping and by that I mean she looked weirdly happy.

" We live there too...749"Ava exclaimed!

What is she so happy about? God I have become such a self downer.

" Oh and there they are" she said pointing at the figures that ran towards us." This is Liya she is my eldest, she is a junior in college and these are Dave and Ashley they are juniors along with my other babies--"

" Adopted and exclusive 13 year old Jaden at your service" he said kissing Ava's hand.

" And don't forget me" a small girl said making a graceful entrance into the front " And who am I, you ask? I am adopted baby exclusive Griena. I am 11" She completed and bowed to us like a true princess.

" Nice to meet all of you" Mom said.

We all literally ' bonded' while walking home.

" So do you like it here so far?" Dave asked after our very long conversation and blinked with is cute long eye lashes as he gave me warm smile.

Woah! Stop it Brooke. You are seeing someone else.

" I just got here so it's okay, I guess" I said as we giggled past the fro-yo store.

" So, is your family always this weird?" Ava said.

I raise my eyebrows and he noticed.

" It's okay Ro-ro, she can ask me whatever she wants and yes, they honestly are. Ashley and I are like the only normal ones."

" Ignore him Brooke, he is stupid and really Dave? You and I? Liya here doesn't say a word, Griena talks too much and Jaden is so weird and Dave here, what can I say? He can't even respect my friends." She said.

Aww she called me her friend.

Yay mission 1 well it was making A friend so well, check.

" Haha nah actually it's fine, my family is weird too Chad is okay I guess but Ava is such a drama queen" I continued.

Every time this family says Liya I miss Aliya even more.

" So, what about your friends? I'm sure you have loads since you sound so uh... interesting" I asked.

" No... not at all, I just have a few. I did have many before who were just friends with me to get closer with Dave and that's that. " She said and looked at him as we had a ice cream mustache. 

" I don't understand how anybody even likes him, What about you?"

" Same, I literally have one real friend, Aliya she is my best friend since kindergarden."

" Aww it must be hard isn't it? Moving to different place" Griena said as she patted on my back.

I smile as I ignore the fact that Dave is calling me ro-ro again.

" Well that's our queue to leave" mom said as she pointed at our house.

" It was nice talking to you, see you tomorrow" Ashley said as she hugged me.

She is a happy person. I like her. Kinda reminds me of Aliya. I miss her.

" Well you gotta catch some zzs" Chad said coming in my room and kissing me on my forehead.

Wow that was weird.

" What do you want?" I asked suspiciously.

Love like this doesn't just happen. I mean I love him and he is okay but this was too much.

" Did you see Liya? Just talk to her for me. Please." He begged.

" Um dude I just got to know them. Don't spoil it for me and a pretty girl like her probably has a boyfriend." I ignored him as I grabbed my phone.

" You and Ashley seemed close. Please just do it for me. Just this once. I could talk to Dave for you. He seems like a good guy." He said grabbing my phone.

" Hey that's mine!" I shouted as I snatched it back." Fine I'll think about it...." I muttered.

" Hey and what about Dave!? Did you forget about Ace?" I shouted.

Well Ace has.

Why didn't he text me?

God I sound so obsessed right now.

" Yeah yeah, Night!" He yelled as she bashed the door behind me.

Well tomorrow is a new day.
