Over the next couple of days, as Alexander was keeping himself busy with the military generals and Regillus Eques, while Isabelle tries to get hold of information in regards to the wedding. Hugo got cornered several times, but being Alexander's best friend, he wouldn't give Isabelle anything. Except for the fact that it will be the wedding of a lifetime. It's safe to say that Isabelle wasn't satisfied with the answer.
Every day since September 3rd 1939, since Britain's declaration of war, Alexander's schedule consists of his usual run from 4 to 5:30 AM that would usually allow Alexander to take his mind off of the war, shower afterwards then breakfast, before he would head off to Northwood Headquarters, spending the morning there. Alexander would then spend the afternoon at Regillus Eques before going back to Buckingham Palace later that night for dinner and sleep. It's a recurring schedule unless there are royal engagements that clash with this particular schedule, hence Alexander gets to relax - to a certain extent - and gives his attention to his Royal duties. By doing his Royal duties, he was allowed to spend time with Isabelle. Their conversations wouldn't consist of the war, as it was a way for Alexander to get his mind off of the war, and knowing Alexander, Isabelle wouldn't want him to worry any more than he should be.
By the time September 8th rolls around, Nazi Germany had surprised the world once more: reaching Warsaw's outskirts as they have advanced 140 miles in the invasion's first week. However, that doesn't really surprise Regillus Eques. Why? They have studied the Nazi German's military technology, both from afar and up close with agents high up in the ranks of the Nazi government.
Alexander would be working day and night, rarely taking a break from the war. The fact that there was barely any fighting that concerns the British so far, had made Alexander and Regilus Eques (to a certain extent) worried. Putting the worry aside, they - alongside Europe - watched the situation in Poland with great interest. Despite this, Alexander had focused on his Royal duties as well, allowing himself to take a small break from the war, and of course, Regillus Eques and Northwood Headquarters as he spent the day with Isabelle.
By September 17th, the Soviet forces had invaded from the east of Poland. Again, Regillus Eques wasn't surprised. September 18th saw Poland's government alongside their military leaders had fled the country. Ten days later, Warsaw had surrendered to the German siege. With that chapter concluded, Germany and the USSR had come to an agreement that outlines their zones of occupation.
