It's been a week since James, Hugo and I have arrived in Washington D.C. It's safe to say that no one knows my true identity. Well, except for a selected few but that's all. Truth be told, jet lag isn't the biggest problem for me, nor for James and Hugo. But, the biggest problem for me is that I need to keep James and to a certain extent, Hugo, out of my suite in the hotel (named the Blue Navy) [not creative enough, I know] and I haven't figured a way to do so yet.
So, it's the early morning of the 10th, and I am up and about with my usual morning run. The route that I have been running since the 4th has been memorised after a glance at the local map. I made a pit stop at a coffee shop before going back to the hotel where I would walk the rest of the way back to the hotel. I would do my usual things until the other two are awake and ready for the day. Surprisingly enough - yet it wasn't - Hugo didn't do his usual morning run. I shook off the thought.
Someone knocked on the door, interrupting me reading the newspaper.
"Come in," I stated and Hugo walked in.
"We are ready for you, sir," He said and I set the folded newspaper down. I took my outer jacket with the lapel pin of House Windsor's house crest nicely tucked into one of the button openings of the jacket. I walked out to the door as I picked up my briefcase with me.
Hugo followed me as I walked to the elevator, wearing my jacket as he held my briefcase for me. I took it back after I straightened myself with the jacket.
"Going somewhere after breakfast, Alexander?" He asked.
"Yes. I have an appointment with the President of the United States and what a better entrance than going there on a Royal Enfield with no escort?" I replied, glancing at him as we entered the elevator, smirking slightly. Hugo laughed as James entered.
"What's so funny?" James asked.
"Well, the Prince of Wales here has a great way of making himself known to the White House," Hugo replied as I have a tugging smile.
"Nothing better than riding on my Royal Enfield," I continued. James stared at me.
"You brought your motorcycle here?" He asked, curious.
"Of course I did, James. I miss going on it," I replied and James nodded. We soon arrived at the designated floor and we got out of the elevator and headed to the restaurant serving breakfast. Since we were the first to arrive, we got the peace and silence to ourselves until other people started arriving, bringing it alive.
"So, Alexander, the hotel business of Regillus Eques is thriving," James noted and I nodded, staying quiet. They both notice the silence.
"What's wrong?" Hugo asked, suddenly becoming worried.
"I'm just thinking about her, that's all," I replied before I finish up eating, "Anyway, I better get going. I don't want to be late to my own meeting that I had set up with the President."
Hugo and James nodded as they glanced at one another while I got my briefcase and walked out. I headed to the receptionist and with one nod and a glance, he stood up and motioned me to follow him. I followed him outside where the Royal Enfield was waiting for me. He handed me the helmet and the keys. I nodded thanks before the receptionist walked back into the hotel.I put my briefcase into the compartment after I had worn my helmet. I got onto the motorcycle and put the keys in before I started the engines and headed off. I made my way through the city, and I would be arriving at the gates of the White House.
I stopped at the gates and got my helmet off as I took out my wallet. I automatically gave the guard my ID.
"I'm here to see the President," I told him, really not giving him a chance to say anything at all. The guard nodded and headed off to confirm. A couple of minutes passed by and he returned with a visitor's badge and my ID card. He handed it to me and I nodded thanks, putting both away safely. I put my helmet on as I waited for the gates to open before starting the engine and made my way in.
I stopped in front of the doors into the Whtie House before getting off the motorcycle and taking off my helmet. I took the keys out from the motorcycle, deciding to park not far from the entrance. I then walked in after leaving my helmet in the trunk and taking my briefcase with me. I did have the visitor's badge with me as I entered the White House. A security guard escorted me to the Oval Office where I would wait for the President. I was offered something to drink, so both coffee and tea would suffice. Soon, I was sipping the cup of tea (Earl Grey) as I waited for President Roosevelt to arrive.
