28. 》Keep In Check《

"Everyone, get up! Come on! Team meeting!", Steve boomed as he knocked on each and every one of his teammates' doors. Groans and whines were heard from the other side, and the occasional 'f**k', as well.

The captain patiently waited for everyone to gather around him in the common room. Sam was one of the first few to join him, along with Vision and Rhodey. Clint and Natasha followed soon after.

"Rogers, why are we all up at...", Rhodey trailed off, gazing at his watch. "...6 o'clock in the morning?" Steve pursed his lips. "I'll tell you once everyone's here."

Clint yawned. "I'm starting to get hungry. Nat, want me to grab some pretzels?", the archer offered, to which Natasha nodded giddily at. "I would like to try some of those pretzels, as well.", Vision piped in, raising his hand.

"Okay then. Be right back, Cap." Before Steve could say something in response, Clint dashed out of the room and into the kitchen, just as Wanda made her way to the group. 

"All right, what now?", Tony groaned, stepping into the room, too. His hair was all messy and his clothes were all wrinkled. Rhodey laughed. "Rough night?"

Tony shrugged. "Pepper and I got into a fight over the phone. Again.", he replied, emphasizing the last word. "About what, Stark?", Vision inquired, to which Tony squinted his eyes at.

"It's private, Viz-Whiz.", the billionaire retorted. The android looked at the others, noticeably confused at the new nickname. "Isn't that supposed to be Cheez-Whiz-"

"You ought to get used to the names Stark gives you, Vision.", Thor cut Vision off, taking a seat next to Rhodey.

"Where's your brother?", Steve asked, crossing his arms. "Yeah, where's Loki?", Wanda added, stretching her arms up. Natasha cocked an eyebrow.

"Why do you wanna know, Wanda?", the redhead inquired, leaning back against the couch. The witch shrugged . 

"Speak of the devil.", Tony commented, swiveling in one of the chairs to face Loki, who was grinning.

Everyone exchanged weird looks at each other, except Thor, who seemed amused at the change in his brother's aura.

Following Loki was Kara, who had the exact opposite expression on her face.

"Rough night?", Tony asked, mimicking his best friend's tone, causing Rhodey to turn his way and scoff.

"Not a word from you, Stark.", Kara taunted, tying her hair up in a ponytail and taking a seat next to Natasha. Tony snickered at this. 

"All right, c'mon, Cap. Hit us.", the billionaire remarked, crossing his arms over his chest, making himself visibly bored. Clint arrived just in time with the bag of pretzels in his hand. 

"Everyone's aware of what happened yesterday. We know for sure Strucker's out to get Kara, and he's out there for blood.", Steve started, looking each member in the eye.

"Possibly revenge, too.", Rhodey butted in. Steve nodded his head. "It's also a fact that Kara here...", he trailed off, gesturing to the lady sat beside the female assassin. "... has impressive powers."

"Powers that need to be controlled.", Loki interjected, earning an eye roll from Kara. "Can I speak without someone seconding my words?", the captain spoke with a sigh. It was Loki's turn to roll his eyes. 

"Damn, this pretzels are the bomb!", Clint chimed in rather loudly, causing everyone to turn his way. Natasha kicked his leg in response.

"My point is...", Steve pinched the bridge of his nose. "...we need to train her. We can't just keep her here. So, I devised monitoring groups to keep her in check.", Rogers stated. The rest of the team seemed confused, most especially Kara.
