As the break between school years in Japan were significantly shorter than other countries, such as America's which (Y/N) was used to, it was a surprise to find that the months had already come and gone and a knew year was upon them.
Even the first term had gone by quickly.
The pro hero and art teacher could only assume the previous year had felt so long because of everything that occurred then. With all the happenings Toshinori went through and with the League of Villain's unwavering relentlessness, she rightfully believed that last year had been a long year for him as well. It had its ups and downs, one of the biggest highlights being obviously their relationship, but (Y/N) was also glad just to see her companion happy; alive.
He was continuing to improve so greatly, and had already exceeded his therapist's expectations in his mental health journey. Sometimes she wondered if he was just trying to be the best at going to therapy, if that was somehow a goal someone could have.
The weeks were going by so quickly in fact, already the schools districts were already coming up to their summer breaks.
Toshinori rolled his neck to loosen up his tight muscles from craning his head down at papers for the past thirty minutes in his living room. After the end of that days school day the man had hoped to get some papers completed to ease his work load for the following week. He wanted to laugh at all the work he already had thanks to his work as an instructor, but his chest kinda hurt just thinking about it. If it wasn't hero paperwork, which no one thought to warn him about when he was younger, then it was something he had to do as a teacher. It hadn't been terribly bad at first, as he was reviewing and grading his students quizzes to test them of their knowledge of last years instruction.
Things had been going smoothly for him, until he was probably going through his fortieth student's work.
That was when the prolonged sitting and neck strain had gotten to him.
Setting his pen and papers down on the coffee counter he rolled his back straight from its hunched position, holding back the distressed groans wanting to escape his throat. He rubbed his shadowed ceruleans and yawned, stealing another glance at the rest of his fat stack of papers and sighing.
He probably should take a break, but he wanted to get everything done and over with so he can have time to himself and (Y/N).
Speaking of which, the said lady was around somewhere in the apartment. It wasn't that large of a space. The (h/c) haired woman had long finished her respective tasks for work and had disappeared somewhere in the house. With how tunnel visioned Toshinori had been in his own work, he probably wouldn't even have noticed her wandering around at all if she hadn't said anything to him. She was always more proficient than he was at teaching and managing her time with her work as she was already almost done with most of her week's tasks. It was common for him to still be drowning in his own work while she spent her extra free time indulging in personal hobbies or even helping out Toshinori with his paperwork.
He hated to ask, because he'd be too embarrassed, but she would always be happy to help if he needed it.
As if she had heard the thoughts in his mind she appeared from the bedroom after having a late afternoon nap. (Y/N) yawned as she approached the man in the living room, wearing one of Toshinori's white t-shirts and her (f/c) panties. She scratched the side of her head, smiling sympathetically at the sad sight of her lover and his mountain of papers.
