It was near sickening when the couple realized once again that their friend Mr. Davis was not present at his shop the moment they returned the following day to see him.

What was especially jarring was the scene of law enforcement interrogating a person that one could only assume was one of the employees he had, with flimsy yellow police tape decorating the doors of his cafe and a flashing police car sitting nearby on the street. Toshinori could feel (Y/N's) discomfort at the sight of it all.

Hell, he felt it radiating off of her yesterday despite his attempts at easing her worries. The man guessed that she'd been reacting on a pure gut feeling that most heroes possessed as he's been in the same spot in the past. It was like a dip sensation felt in the abdomen, like weightlessness, something the man felt quite often when he saw his love. This meaning that the feeling could be good or bad. However, on the day they first noticed the salt and pepper haired man's absence, the blonde retired hero had no unwarranted worry or fear for the other man or his well-being at first. It made him wonder if he was losing his touch on his senses since his retirement, or simply (Y/N) just had the upper hand on him when it came to pure womanly instinct.

They were both hesitant to approach one of the officers or the cafe itself, keeping at a distance like idle bystanders to a situation that may or may not need their help.

The cerulean eyed man kept his gaze to the concerned face of both the worker of the cafe and the focused looking officers getting as much information as they could. He felt the small woman beside him squeeze his hand.

"Sweetness?"

(Y/N) was chewing at her bottom lip to the point where he could see small little dimples forming on her chin and her usually bright (e/c) eyes that held so much kindness in its gaze was now wet and brimming with fearful tears. He'd only seen this look on her a handful of times in their past, each time he bear witness to it he found that his heart nearly couldn't take the sight of it.

He whispered her name quietly, sounding so heart-wrenching in his own ears that he almost didn't believe the noise was coming from his own lips. With the hand that didn't occupy his very own, the water quirk hero furiously wiped at her eyes before she could fully cry in public.

"Oh God...I had a bad feeling yesterday I couldn't shake off...we should have—" she began to ramble, her thoughts racing over and over in her mind telling her what she could've done differently to somehow prevent whatever was happening now.

Mr. Davis had been such a good man and a friend to them. He brought smiles on their faces by simply being a wonder to be around and know. To think that something must've happened to him...

It absolutely terrified the (h/c) haired woman to think of the possibilities. She never felt comfortable when things such as this happened, even more so after she was kidnapped months ago by that vicious underground crime ring. It was one of the reasons why she became a hero in the first place, wanting so badly to be there for others who couldn't protect themselves. She felt her chest go tight though thinking that even with all her hopes and dreams as a hero, she wasn't even able to help someone close to her.

Toshinori winced when he heard her whimper.

The blonde began shushing her quietly, tenderly pulling her yielding form into his torso with large warm hands and pressing her into a melting embrace. She whimpered again but didn't stop herself from curling her own arms around him, her forearms resting only a little higher than his skinny hips.

Usually the man wouldn't have been so inclined to displaying his affection like this in public as he was very much reserved in those terms. It was a completely different story once he and (Y/N) were behind closed doors however, as Toshinori quite often found himself unable to keep his hands off of her. He could really care less now, more focused on providing his partner comfort in her clear distress.
