Femi's POV.
That girl is just something else. Even when I try to understand her, I just get so confused and tangled up with her nasty attitude. But still, I want to get to know her better. I don't want to judge a book by its cover but I'd be lying if I'd say that I wasn't offended by her actions today.
Who exactly does she think she is? A goddess or something?
I had to humble myself _ despite the fact that I didn't want to even go there in the first place, for fear of being insulted (which I was) _ and I went there to thank and ask her out. I didn't ask her out because I like her, no. I did because I wanted to get to know her better and start afresh, but no. She's just too stuck-up to even do that.
After she had rudely rejected me, I sighed and felt like pulling her back and giving her a piece of my mind. I would have said something like: "listen here, I don't even want to go out with you. I'm just doing you a favour so you don't die of loneliness and rejection. So you better watch your tongue before I help you to shut it for good". That was what I had in mind, but I decided against it because of my self-esteem. I wasn't going to reduce my self-respect all because of her and that's why I didn't say anything to her and swallowed my words, else, she would have been left in shock and in tears.
I got home and plopped on my bed with a sigh. That girl is so annoying, I wonder how her family is able to cope with such an arrogant brat.
And just when I was about to get some sleep, I heard my phone ringing and I groaned before picking it up. I checked the caller's ID but found out that it was an unknown number. With a final groan, I answered the call.
"Hello?" I said and the next voice that was heard sounded familiar but I wasn't sure where I had heard it before.
"Hello, Femi" the voice came in.
"Um, please I'm sorry to ask, but who am I speaking with exactly?" I asked.
"This is Mrs Aniobi speaking, Chioma's mother" she said and my eyes widened.
"Good afternoon ma" I said, unsure of what else to say.
"Afternoon dear. I'm calling because I'd like to apologise on Chioma's behalf. I overheard you two talking and I'm sincerely sorry for Chioma's misbehavior. She's... Sometimes a bit too dramatic. By the way, I got your number through your father, hope you don't mind me disturbing you a bit" she replied and I quirked a brow at her last words.
A bit too dramatic? She more than that!
"It's...it's no problem. I guess it's because of the headache she had" well there's a problem though, that girl needs to learn some manners.
"Well , her father insisted that I speak with you. He was saying that I should give you Chioma's number so she can apologise. And, she will be going out with you tonight. Don't mind her" she said and I was speechless for a while.
"Um, well, thank you ma for apologising on her behalf. It's no problem, I just feel that that's the way she is" I replied honestly, I didn't want to lie to her about her daughter. Truth be told, her daughter is a pain in the neck.
"Okay, I'll just give you her number so you can call her and fix things up" she said and I felt like yelling the word 'no!' so loudly. I obviously didn't want to be insulted by her, twice. But since her mom went through the trouble of contacting me, I had no choice but to agree.
