Chioma's POV.
After helping Amanda with the cooking, I headed upstairs to her room to freshen up and have a change of clothes and also let my parents know that I'll be staying over at Amanda's place. And since Amanda and I have the same body size, she let me wear her clothes for the night.
After I had gotten into her room, with no sight of Agozie anywhere, I immediately shut the door behind me and walked into the room. I stepped into the bathroom and and had my bath and also changed into a blue colored butterfly patterned pajama I found in Amanda's wardrobe. After that, I packed my hair up in a loose bun and put on a hair net which I found lying on her nightstand.
My phone made a buzz sound and I immediately knew it was my mom who was calling me. She has probably been waiting for me to get back.
"Hello, mom" I said as I sat down on the large comfy bed with white and pink beddings and floral patterned designs all over it.
"Where have you been? Can't you see how late it is?!" She practically yelled.
"Mom, I'm at Amanda's place and I'm sleeping over. I'll be back by tomorrow, okay?" I said very calm and I could hear her sigh across the line.
"Why didn't you say so? You had me worried sick!" She ranted and I rolled my tired eyes.
"Mom, I'm not a child. Don't worry about me, I'm fine" I said.
"Okay. Goodnight then, sleep tight" she said.
"Good night Mom, greet dad for me too" I said.
"Sure" and with that she hung up while I let out a shaky breath.
I scrolled through my contacts and found Amara's staring back at me. I so wanted to call her but my ego wouldn't let me.
She was right, my ego and pride does overshadow my sense of reasoning. But I won't say that out loud of course!
The door finally came open and Amanda walked into the room with a tray containing two plates of fried rice and chicken with a side of coleslaw alongside two glass cups and a bottle of apple juice.
"Wow, just the thing I needed right now" I said as I sprang up from the bed and took the tray from her, placing it on the side table nearby.
"Yeah, thanks for leaving me to do all the work" she said, sarcasm dripping from her voice like sour honey.
"I helped you, didn't I?" I said, feigning hurt and shock all at the same time.
"You did, but then you let me do all the cleaning. And you did say you'd come back downstairs to help me clean up" she said as she plopped on her bed, with a sigh escaping her puce lips.
"Whatever, I did help with the cooking" I replied as I also sat beside her on her large and comfy princess bed. I wasted no time to taste the delicious aromatic rice, well garnished with the right portion of everything. Corn, peas, carrots, kidney beans, and all those other stuff that you'll truly need in a well prepared fried rice. The chicken was massive and also well seasoned and marinaded with pepper sauce and a spicy but tasty flavoring. And the coleslaw was not left out in the tasty and delicious frenzy. The food looked, smelt and tasted delicious.
