"Thank you for letting me stay." She shyly said pulling her duffel bag behind her as she walked through the door into my home. Her eyes wandered over the family pictures scattered all over the place and the toys of my brother dotted occasionally. "It's no problem. Honestly, you ok?" I assured her, picking up her bag over my shoulder.
A gulp went down her throat and she closed her eyes for a second before replying, "It's that I just realised my house never really had pictures." She fake-smiled, shaking her head a couple times. She had just arrived but 20 minutes ago she told me she was on her way to mine and asked if she could stay for a couple days. My obvious answer was yes. What 16 year old boy would say no?
"Come on." I called out to the curious girl walking up the stairs towards my room, her light footsteps echoed behind and she soon greeted me in my room. I placed her bag next to my walk-in-closet and gestured towards it. "Here you can hang some up in there. And there's towels in there too so you can take a shower." I explained, then pointing at the en-suite bathroom.
She looked at where I pointed and nodded. "Thank you. Honestly." She smiled genuinely this time, her arms hugging me. I rubbed her back and breathed her scent in. "Imma go shower." She announced before grabbing some clothes and underwear moving into the en-suite swiftly.
