I stay on the floor. Olivia stays looking at me.
"Look away dude. He's going to see me." I yell to her.
She shrugs and looks back up at the stage.
Everyone is quiet for a while, just looking around.
The boys look at each other confused and shrug.
Daniel clears his throat and puts the mic back up to his mouth. "I um, I guess she's not coming."
Everybody tries to ignore what just happened and move on to the next song.
"Take the time with me tonight, you should come with me tonight..." Zach sings.
I stand up a little and Daniel is still crowd searching.
"I'm leaving!" I yell at Olivia.
She gives me a sad face and nods her head.
I make my way through the crowd and go outside. I sit on the curb and put my face in my hands. I realize I can't go anywhere until Olivia's dad picks us up. I look at my watch. A good forty-five minutes until that. I sigh. I'm still so embarrassed. I feel awkward sitting out here alone.
But I do, for a really long time.
Everyone starts coming out of the place and I stand up and move out of the way. I'm looking at everyone trying to find Olivia but after ten minutes I still can't find her. Where could she have gone?
Her dad pulls up and I climb in the back seat.
"Where's Olivia?" He asks.
I shrug. "She hasn't come out yet."
He calls her phone. "Sweetie, where are you? Okay. I'm coming around." He puts his phone in the cup holder. "She's around the back." He pulls off.
I look at the back of his head confused. But why?
We get to the back of the building and Olivia is talking to Corbyn. Oh no. I sink into the seat hoping nobody sees me.
"Are you okay?" Her dad asks, turning around to look at me.
"Yes. Just please look away." He nods and does so.
Olivia sees the car and hugs Corbyn. She runs to open the door and hops in.
Her dad pulls off. "Who was that?" He asks.
"One of the band members. They're looking for someone. I was just seeing if I could help.
I roll my eyes and put my seatbelt on.
"It's pretty late. You girls have to get ready for bed when we get there." Her dad says.
She sighs. "Dad, you don't have to treat us like kids. We're seventeen."
"Yes. But you are my only child. As a parent regardless it's my job."
She rolls her eyes and crosses her arms.
We pull up to the house and both run inside. We run upstairs and slam Olivia's bedroom door. "Okay missy. What happened?" She asks.
We sit on the bed.
"What were you and Corbyn talking about is the real question?"
"He just asked me and some other girls how we were."
I glare at her.
"And if we saw a girl with brown hair, blue eyes with a few wristbands. I told him no."
"Thank you." I lay back on the bed.
"Why were you avoiding Daniel. You love him."
"Which is why I'm so embarrassed that he saw my wrist."
"I thought you stopped, El?"
"I did. But these ones haven't gone away yet. After he saw them, he kept trying to find me."
"Why?"
I shrug. "I don't know. But I'm glad he didn't find me. I don't want to have that talk with him."
She lays next to me and pulls out her phone. "Uh oh."
I look at her. "What?"
She lays her phone on her stomach. "Nothing."
I grab her phone and unlock it. The first post on her Instagram home was from the band account. "This is my meet and greet picture. How did they even get this?"
She shrugs and takes back her phone. "Met this girl tonight. Would really like to see her again. Was wondering if you guys could help me."
I close my eyes. "What do I do Olive?"
"You could hide, forever. If that's what you want. Or, just own up to this because Daniel freaking Seavey is looking for you."
I laugh a little. "If it were under other circumstances, I would gladly meet him again." I sit up. "I'm not looking for another lecture. I get plenty from you and my mother."
It is too hot outside for me, also, I hoped you enjoyed this.
