What Do We Do Now?

None of us were proud of that moment. We all got into our cars and decided that we were never going to speak of it, and we all left.

Daniel and the guys went back on tour a week later. Marie and I hung out almost every day at school and after. Things seemed to be okay.

Marie and I were sitting in our English class when Olivia walked over to our table. "Mind if I sit?" She asked.

Marie and I looked at each other and shrugged our shoulders.

Olivia sat down.

Marie and I would talk to each other, but not Olivia.

"I wanted to say sorry, about everything." Olivia said.

"Thanks." I said, opening my notes.

"I didn't want things to end the way that they did. I still want to be friends.

I laughed. "You picked a boy over your best friend. Well, over me, because I guess we weren't really friends. Seems like you knew exactly what you were doing."

Olivia sighs and leaves the subject alone. "Prom is next week, so we're going to need more help with the gym, if you guys can help."

"I suppose we could clear our busy schedules." Marie says.

Olivia just nods.

After class, we go to our lockers. I never realized how close Marie's was to mine.

"Did she really just try to be friends with you?" Marie laughs.

"I guess so. Things won't be the same anymore, honestly. And I have you and Lily now. You guys are real friends. And, since our boyfriend's all hang out together, I don't have to worry about you ditching me."

We both laugh.

Suddenly Miles walks by us and just gives us the death stare. This time he didn't say anything.

"He looks in bad shape." Marie says.

I wanted to tell her, but I remember we all said we wouldn't say anything. "Looks like someone got him pretty good." I smile to myself.

"It's about time." She says, slamming her locker shut.

We went to lunch, got our food, and went to our usual table. I pulled out my phone and as always, checked Insta. Just when we thought we were safe, we weren't. There was a photo going around of Miles face, saying that Daniel did that to him. Daniel is going to be devastated. I looked at Marie, and she was already looking at me.

"Daniel?"

I nodded my head.

"Well damn. I didn't think he had it in him." She laughs.

"What do you think will happen now?" I start to get a little worried.

"Kids fight all the time. I can't see it being a big thing."

"Daniel is 18 now, Marie."

She spits out her food. "I see why this might be a problem." She thinks for a minute. "Okay, Miles is 18 too. Maybe if everyone comes up with a story and sticks to it, you can just get Miles in trouble, right?"

"That seems wrong, I hate lying. Daniel was the one who started it." I put my head down.

"I'm sorry honey." She says, in a sweet voice. "We'll figure something out. There's more of us then there is him."

She was right. But was that enough to save Daniel?
