A few days pass, and nothing at all happens. I was studying for one of my exams when my phone rang.

"Hello."

"Hey, it's me." Daniel.

"What's up?"

"I wanted to let you know that everything is taken care of. Nobody is going to get in trouble for what happened."

"What are you talking about?"

"From the fight. Just trust me, we're all safe. We can go to prom on Saturday and everything will be fine, I promise." He was quick to hang up. I wonder what he meant by that. I just shrugged it off and finished studying.

Saturday Night

It was finally prom day. Marie brought over all her stuff. She spent the night last night, and she is tonight. We were getting ready together.

"Are you sure you still want to go?" She asks me, putting on her makeup.

I nod. "I'm positive. Nothing can ruin tonight."

"If you say so."

We get ready to go, and my mom yells upstairs. "Come down for pictures ladies."

I was surprised. We haven't really interacted in weeks, yet, every time we did, she was nice.

We finished the finishing touches and went to go take the photos.

We heard a honk outside and we both laughed.

"Hurry up mom, we gotta go." I tell her.

"Just one more." Typical mom, taking a thousand photos. "Have fun, and be safe, alright?"

I nod. "I will. We're in good hands."

She smiles a small smile at me, and we open the door.

"Of course, they got a limo." Marie laughs.

I smile and we run to the limo, getting inside. "It's nice in here." I say, sliding over near Daniel.

"Only the best for the best." He says, smiling.

"Hey Jack." I say.

"Hey El." He replies, staring at Marie. "You're so beautiful." He says.

She smiles and kisses him.

"You look amazing." Daniel whispers to me, before kissing my cheek.

"Thanks." I smile back. "You look handsome."

He shrugs. "I try my best." He laughs.

We decided to both wear blue. Marie and Jack wore black. They looked cute together.

We pull up to the school and we all rush to get out.

"I can't believe we're at our senior prom." Marie says, in awe.

"Me either. Let's make this the best night ever, this is one of our last night's together before college." I say.

Marie frowns at me. "Let's not think about that right now."

We run inside and I must say, we did a pretty good job. We went with the garden theme, and we may have over done it with the flowers, but everyone loves taking photos so. We go to our table and put our things down. To no avail, Bailey and Miles are here, and I'm hoping they keep their distance. Daniel said he took care of it, but I don't know exactly what he meant by that.

"Let's dance." Jack says to Marie, pulling her away.

Daniel reaches his hand out to me. "Would you like to dance?" He smiles.

"I um, I don't know how."

"Just go with the song, it's easy. Dance like nobody's watching."

Everything always seemed so easy when he said it. I rolled my eyes and grabbed his hand. We went over to where Marie and Jack were, and we all danced to "Look At Her Now" from Selena Gomez.

We were halfway through the prom, and my feet started to hurt. I was about to go sit down, when the first slow dance song of the night came on. Daniel looked right at me.

"You can't miss our first dance." He pulls me towards him.

It had to be "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran. It was a good song, but it always made me sad. I wanted someone to think that way about me.

We started to dance, and I felt awkward because I was worse at slow dancing then dancing. "Put your arms around my neck." He says.

I nod and do as he says.

He puts his hands around my waist.

I can't help but look around as we dance. Seeing Miles and Bailey were close by. Miles was looking at me, but eventually he stopped. Maybe things were okay. I laid my head on his chest, and for once, I felt safe. Like nothing could take this away from me.

The song had to come to an end though. They went back to their regular music. We finally went back to our table, and I took my heels off, letting out a sign of relief. "Finally."

Daniel sat next to me and laughed.

Miles walks over to us. "Hey man." He says.

Daniel looks at him. "Hey."

"You guys look good tonight. I voted for you as prom king and queen. I really hope you get it."

"I appreciate it." Daniel says.

Miles nods and walks off.

"I forgot about that. I think Marie and Jack should get it." I say.

"I'm not disagreeing, but, why not us?"

"I'm just scared, to go up in front of everybody. Everyone knows about me now."

"There's nothing wrong with that." He grabs my hand. "You should love yourself, what they think or say, it doesn't matter. All that matters is what you think of yourself."

See, he makes it sound easy.

Marie and Jack finally join us, and the lights go down.

Our principal, Mrs. Garcia, walks onto the stage. "It's about that time. Quiet down." Everybody got quiet real fast. "It's time to reveal your kind and queen of prom." A boy runs on stage and hands her an envelope, then stands behind her. She pulls out a piece of paper. "Tonight's kind and queen are," she pauses, "Eleanor Carter and Daniel Seavey."

Everybody starts to clap, and I just look at him. He nudges his head towards the stage. "It's okay." He grabs my hand and we stand up; we start walking to the stage.

The guy behind Mrs. Garcia crowns us, and then asks if we have anything we wanted to say.

I shook my head.

But Daniel, he had to say something. "I wanted to say thank you for picking us, guys. I have to say that I didn't think this year was going to go the way it did. I ended up meeting an amazing girl, and I never knew how amazing she would be, or that we would be together, or that I would be falling in love with her."

I looked at him and my jaw dropped.
