iwaizumi x oikawa

blowing a cloud of his warm breath into the sky iwaizumi noted how cold it was outside. with nothing but a thin santa jacket on, a santa hat, and a tray of warm cups of coffee the male had nothing really protecting him for the harsh winter wind.

'if i get a cold from this i'm suing.' he thought to himself as he flashed a smile at nearby customers. "have a nice night and happy holidays." he said happily.

the customers smiled back and left the shop. as soon as they were out of sight, iwazumi dropped the smile on his face. if he was being completely honest, he never really liked this time of year. and no nothing traumatic happened to him in his childhood, he just never could get himself in the "christmas spirit". maybe something was wrong with him. he frowned at the thought.

"hey now, if some kid saw santa frowning like that i'm sure they'd start crying." a male with brunette hair said stopping in front of iwaizumi.

"hate to break it to you but santa isn't real pal." iwaizumi said leaning against the wall behind him.

"wait he isn't?" he asked a genuine frown on his face.

iwaizumi looked at him amused. "you didn't know?"

"my whole life's been a lie then!" he groaned. "well i guess that would make sense..."

"hey sorry to uh...ruin your life? want some coffee?" iwaizumi held up the plate in his hand as an attempt to make the stranger feel better.

the brunette nodded, taking a cup and sipping on it. "thanks"

"no problem and uh sorry."

the stranger waved it away. "it's fine i had a feeling it was a lie. it's been like a million years and no ones seen him? and if they did why did he look different in every photo? it didn't make sense."

iwaizumi chuckled. "yeah i guess that would make anyone suspicious."

the brunette smiled softly. "oikawa."

"saint nick."

oikawa pouted. "not funny!"

iwaizumi laughed. "sorry i just couldn't pass up the opportunity. i'm iwaizumi." glancing inside the shop he sighed seeing his boss round the corner. "hey i gotta keep working but i get off in an hour if you want to hang out after?"

oikawa smiled. "yeah okay i'll come back."

iwaizumi smiled gratefully and walked back inside.

"who was that?" iwaizumi's coworker, matsukawa asked.

"no one do your job." he deadpanned and walked behind the counter. he looked at the clock counting down the minutes until he could see oikawa again.

"hey iwa-chan! look!" oikawa gasped looking at a sweater in a nearby shop window.

iwaizumi groaned at the recently adopted nickname and looked in the window. the two had been on a walk, looking at the different christmas lights that were in front of the different stores. "that's the ugliest sweater i've ever seen." he said earning a pout from the brunette.

"don't be rude. it's perfect." he marveled at the window.

"do you-do you want to go in and try it on?"

oikawa's gasped. "really? you don't mind?"

iwaizumi shook his head and held the door open of the taller male to walk in. he ran directly to the closets employee and followed them to a rack containing the sweaters.

"here iwa." oikawa said handing him one.

"i'm not wearing this it's stupid."

"please!" he begged. "you don't have to leave the dressing room i just want to see you in it!"

iwaizumi groaned but agreed (because who could say no to oikawa's incredibly adorable puppy dog eyes). following the male into the dressing room they both went their separate ways to put in the sweater.

"okay ready?" oikawa asked.

"i guess."

"alright let me see!"

as the two walked out of their stalls they had completely different reactions. while oikawa gasped and fawned over them, iwaizumi blushed, embarrassed to be seen wearing it. "look at us in matching sweaters! it's like we're a real couple!" oikawa grinned taking a picture of them both.

"a-a couple?" iwaizumi's blush deepend as oikawa wrapped his arms around iwaizumi's waist.

"yeah a couple. why you got a problem with that?" he looked at the male and smirked.

iwaizumi shook his head (maybe a little too fast because he started to get a headache).

oikawa looked at the time. "the stores gonna end soon let's pay for these and get out." he said walking back into his stall.

too flustered to argue, iwaizumi agreed and did the same. as the two payed for the sweaters (even though everything in iwaizumi being told him not to) the brunette insisted on walking iwaizumi home. they talked and walked together closely hands intertwined.

"so iwa-chan. my friends are throwing an ugly christmas sweater party tomorrow wanna be my date?" oikawa asked smiling innocently.

"so that's why you made me buy this sweater. how would you know if i would even say yes? "

oikawa nodded. "because who can resist going on a date with me?" he joked.

"well me. you're kind of self centered and a tad bit annoying."

oikawa pouted. "don't be rude. you could've just said no." they stopped in front of iwaizumi's door.

"but i didn't say no." iwaizumi explained unlocking the door and standing in the doorway.

oikawa looked up at him confused.

"what time?"

"seven so i'll be here at eight." the brunette grinned.

iwaizumi smiled back. "okay i'll be waiting." he said walking into his house and shutting the door. he smiled leaning against the door, clutching the bag in his hand. maybe he'll actually enjoy the holiday this year.

also it has come to my attention that hinata and kags have not been in this story yet and i think that's crazy so i might post a little one shot about them soon (don't get your hopes up tho i'm very slow when it comes to writing lmao)
