Lilliana's POV
It has officially been four months since I started babysitting Aiden. Lance has been paying me handsomely for it. I'm also back to work. I only work two days out of the week, so on those two days Oliver watches Aiden.
James was charged with aggravated assault and breaking and entering. They wouldn't charge him for attempted murder, Lance was furious. He would only be in prison for five years. I tried not to think about it. Mrs. Russo wasn't charged with anything. I decided to let her go as long as a written apology was given.
Life has been peaceful ever since. It's Aidens birthday today, Lance took him somewhere so I could help decorate the house for his party. Lance wanted to do something Aiden would never guess, a funky party. Everyone would dress up in crazy outfits, Lance planned for the three of us to be somewhat matching.
We strung colorful fairy lights in the trees outside on the back patio. They had a snow cone machine with all kinds of flavors. Lance even got a bounce house. Inside we had silk fabric hanging from chandelier that fanned to the edges of the room. We stuck more twinkling lights inside the drapes to make it look more special.
The cake was huge, three big fat layers with blue frosting and what looked like orange food gel running down the sides like candle wax does. Aidens name was written on the side, there was a big six shaped candle at the very top. Lance had set up a PowerPoint with pictures of Aiden when he was a baby, up until now. Everything was perfect.
Lance and I took Aiden upstairs to get him, along with ourselves, dressed for the party. We never told him the theme of the party, so he was puzzled when we pulled out his outfit. It was a dark blue and black tailcoat suit. Lance insisted that the three of us dress up. Aiden didn't want to wear the tailcoat that went with it, so we didn't make him. Lances outfit was exactly like Aidens.
I couldn't help but stare. He looked like he was going on a date, not to a six year olds party. When I started laughing, Lance shoved me into my room, demanding that I get ready. My skirt was also blue, but more of a dusty blue. I wore a plain navy blue top with a pair of vans. There was no way I was going to put myself in the spotlight. I put my hair into fishtail pigtail braids.
