Lucy de Fiore's POV
"I'm home, Father." I sneered.
He clenched his teeth together, holding himself back, "Where have you been all this time?" I glanced around the castle absentmindedly and replied, "Here and there. It's nothing worth of your concern."
"Answer me Lucy, where have you been?" He demanded in a powerful voice.
I flinched slightly before I regained my composure. I stood my ground and replied, "I said it was none of your concern didn't I?" His nostrils flared furiously, he raised his hand and I squeezed my eyes shut.
He's going to hit me!
I anticipated for the pain to come, but it never did.
I heard a loud sigh and I opened my eyes timidly, Father was rubbing his eyes tiredly. He gave in, "Fine, I won't question about that matter," I let out a sigh of relief in my mind.
Thank god.
"So, what made you come back?" He suspiciously.
I looked around and noticed the servants were still lingering about the halls. "Here's not a very suitable place to talk, let's head to another room." He nodded and he brought me to his office. He sat down on his chair as I stood in front of him. "Shoot." He said as he looked into my eyes. I swallowed a lump in my throat before I delivered my words, "I would like you to break off my engagement with the Dexent family." He didn't look at all surprised, instead he sighed.
"And what makes you think I would do that? Give me a good reason." He replied as he swirled his chair to face the other side where he could see the landscape of the town. "My reason is that because there is no romance between Nats-, Mr. Dexent and I." Father raised his brow in amusement, "And? The relationship between the both of you was never meant to be romantic. It's a political marriage to increase my, and the Dexents' political influence."
I gnash my teeth in agony and raised my voice slightly, "I'm your daughter! Would you listen to me for once? I want to marry someone I love! Not marrying for political benefits!"
"That's enou-"
I cut him off and continued to speak as tears slowly trickled down my cheeks, "I don't understand why you're like this ever since Mama passed away! We used to be so happy!"
"I said that's en-"
"All you're thinking about is yourself! You've never spared a thought about me! If Mama was still here, she would've never agreed to this! Never!"
"Enough!" Father slammed his fists on the table causing me to flinch in fear.
I turned my back and wiped my tears away. I clenched my fists together and turn back to look at the man I once called affectionately, Papa. "Enough already, I'm leaving the palace. And..." I hesitated on my words, "...You're no more my Father." I said with agony and hate dripping off my words. I dashed out of the room immediately and slammed the door shut.
"Lucy!"
I ignored him and ran down the hallways.
I thought he was better than this.
I must've been blind all along.
I ran to my room and threw my suitcase on my bed and started to stuff my clothes inside the small compartment. I slid down against my bed frame and started to cry to myself. I'm a emotional wreck right now. Just then, a gentle knock could be heard from my door. I quickly wiped my tears away and allowed the person to come in.
"Princess." Virgo said in a monotonous voice before she came to my side. "What's wrong Princess?" I cracked out a smile and shook my head. Virgo noticed the messy suitcase but she didn't say anything. "Are you heading out somewhere, Princess?" I faltered a little, not knowing whether I should tell her that I was leaving the palace for good.
I looked into her sea blue eyes and said, "Virgo, I'm leaving this place. Forever." Her blank expression didn't change. She closed her eyes for a moment as she contemplated something. She then said, "I see, then shall I accompany you Princess?" I widened my eyes in surprise and shook my head immediately, "No no no, I can't drag you into my own problems Virgo. It's alright, you can continue working for the Royal Family."
"That won't do would it?" A masculine voice could be heard around the doorway. "Leo!" I said in surprise. "Hello, my lady. You look beautiful as always." He winked at me. I laughed awkwardly, "What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to take care of the army?" He shrugged his shoulders casually and said nonchalantly, "I ditched them."
I gasped. Leo ignored my shock as he approached me, "So I heard you're leaving this place?" I nodded. "Then take us with you." Leo insisted. I shook my head and caressed his face, "It would be irresponsible of me to drag you into my pathetic situation."
"Are you stupid?" Another voice appeared from the doorway. "Aquarius! And everyone, what are all of you doing here?"
"We are going to follow you whether you like it or not, my lady." Capricorn said.
"B-But why..." I mumbled.
Leo kissed the palm of my hand and went on one knee with his other hand on his chest. The others followed his example, "G-Guys! What are you doing? Stand up!" I said as I felt flustered.
"We pledged our loyalty to you, not to the Royal Family. You saved us from our demise and hence now we will return the favour." Leo said as he gazed into my eyes.
I brought my hands up to my face as I felt this indescribable feeling in my chest. I felt so touched and happy.
I was overjoyed.
"Please rely on the Celestial Guardians a little more." Leo said as he smiled gently. All of them stood up. Leo opened his arms widely and grinned, "Now, come on Princess!" I ran into his arms almost immediately. Everyone started to crowd around us and join the hug.
"Thank you...Thank you, everyone." My voice was muffled as my face was lying against Leo's chest.
Thank you.
