"Revelation: a surprising and previously unknown fact, especially one that is made known in a dramatic way. As the saying always goes, the truth will set you free, but will it really? Because as we all know the truth is anything but simple."

𝓔𝔁𝓱𝓪𝓾𝓼𝓽𝓮𝓭. That's all I felt right now as I drove over to the Salvatore home, you help your mother with planning for Founder's Day and all hell breaks loose while you are gone. Apparently, Jenna's ex, Logan, was turned into a raging vampire. He had not only tortured Damon, but kidnapped Caroline. Thankfully the both of them were ok, but I still wanted to be caught up on whatever else I had missed out on. I mean seriously, I'm gone for a little over a day and all this happens?

I pull up to the familiar home and put my vehicle in park. I was feeling pretty sluggish as running around with my mother, Carol, as planning everything was quite exhausting. But as the mayor's wife and daughter it was our duty to make sure that all of the planning went smoothly because if it didn't then it would make the family look bad. Bleh. I got out of my car and went up to the giant wooden doors and knocked. After no reply, I tried the handle and the door opened.

"Hello? Elena? Stefan?" I questioned walking into the home.

I had called Elena earlier and she had told me that she and Stefan were at his place and to head over. I looked around the living room, and yet there was no one there. I huffed in slight annoyance; did I seriously drive all the way here for them to just ditch me? I walked around a bit more before deciding to head up the stairs to go see if they were in Stefan's room, silently hoping I wouldn't be interrupting anything, if you know what I mean.

I slightly opened his door, "Stefan? Elena? You in there?"

I received no reply, so I opened up the door and peered inside. The bed was messy, but there were no signs of anyone being in there. I groaned as I walked inside to look around, this man had a serious addiction to books. His room was full of them, it made my collection look absolutely pitiful. I ran my hands over some books on his desk, trying to see if there was any I might be interested in stealing, I mean, borrowing. I sighed as there was nothing worth bothering with and I turned around to leave the room when I heard a loud thud from behind me.

My body went rigid as I turned around to see what was behind me, silently praying it wasn't a bloodthirsty vampire. I looked down and there was a book laying open on the ground. Odd, I thought, there was no way for any of those books to fall off without having some assistance. I walked back over and picked up the book cursing to myself as two items fell out of it. I placed the book back onto the desk as I bent back down to look at what had fallen out. My eyebrows furrowed as I realized they were both pictures, well at least one was.

The first picture I held was obviously old and well-loved as it had been creased, but the face that stared back at me made my blood run cold. It was Elena, but it wasn't. In elegant cursive writing a name was written, along with a date. It said Katherine, 1864. How was this possible? Her and Elena looked identical, they were the same person. The only difference was that Katherine's hair was in perfect ringlets, while Elena always wore hers straight.

I shakily moved the picture and looked at what else had fallen out of the book with it. It was a drawing of two women, and this is when my heart went into overdrive. It was of Katherine and another woman, but this time I saw myself staring back at me. Katherine and this other woman were pressed cheek to cheek smiling softly, if I didn't know better, I would have thought that someone drew me and Elena from another time period. With my hands shaking, I flipped over the drawing, and saw the little note written on the back.
