"Love. Something so fickle, tedious, unrestrained, and heartwarming can also lead to your demise. But yet we all run towards it, even if it means having it destroyed in the end. Are we fools? No, we are lovers."

𝓟𝓪𝓰𝓮𝓪𝓷𝓽𝓼. Or Miss Mystic Falls to be exact, was not my forte. The long evening gowns, delicate mannerisms, prepared speeches and the perfect award winning smile was far from what I truly cared about. I was wrapped up in what had happened not so long ago, I couldn't believe John had popped up like a spring daisy after he had his neck snapped. I was worried about how he would retaliate, because we all knew he would. I, for once, was worried for the Salvatore brothers.
Elena and I were heading upstairs with our gowns to the designated room to change. Elena had a beautiful dark blue gown, while I had a dark plum colored gown. I was thankful I was able to choose my dress otherwise knowing my mother she would have put me in an awful color. I let her choose my dress once before and she chose a pasty yellow hue...yeah, never again. We walked into the room and saw one of the other contestants pacing around nervously.
"You okay, Amber?" I questioned as I walked over to the large ornate mirror.
Amber looked at us, a clear panic written across her face, "I hate being the center of attention, I end up having a panic attack."
Elena's eyebrows furrowed, "Do you need some privacy to get changed?"
"I'm...I'm just gonna get some air." Amber quickly stated before running out of the room.
She shut the door behind her, and I sighed. I felt bad for her, I understood where she was coming from. Being in the spotlight wasn't for everyone. I held up my gown to my body and looked in the mirror, that's when I noticed someone standing a few feet back.
I whirled around, "Damon!"
Elena turned to face him, a semi-sour expression on her face, "You can't be back here."
Damon strolled in to stand beside me, "We three need to talk."
I rolled my eyes, "Does it have to be right now?"
"Normally I would have a completely different outlook on what I'm about to tell you two but since it could really cause me some trouble I'll squeal."
"Get to your point, Damon," I rolled my eyes, as I nudged him with my shoulder.
"Stefan's still drinking human blood."
Elena shrieked, "What!"
"A month ago I would have rejoiced, but with the council back on high alert, no thanks to your delightful Uncle, it's not a good time for Stefan to fly off the handle." Damon stated, reaching over to gently take my hand.
Elena looked at him confused, "I know that he's been a little on edge lately but he said he was back to normal."
Damon sighed as he squeezed my hand, "He has a fridge full of stolen blood bank contraband back at the Boarding House."
Elena dramatically flops down onto the couch, "Oh. My god."
"He has no idea what normal is, his entire existence isn't normal Elena. Normal to a vampire is drinking human blood, but he has spent so much time fighting it when he should have been learning to control it. And now he's back off the bunny diet, the blood is controlling him not the other way around."
"I can't believe this, this is Stefan we are talking about." Elena argued.
"He's not going to want to stop is he?" I questioned, now snapping out of my daze. I looked down at our entwined hands in confusion.
