"Just when I thought my life was becoming boring, you stepped into it and it was like a mine field went off. And I was there trying to pick up the pieces and figure out why, and what you truly are."

Three

𝓕𝓸𝓸𝓽𝓫𝓪𝓵𝓵. The great ole american pass time, and a small town favorite. Tomorrow was the first football game of the season and our town was buzzing with excitement. Me? I could honestly care less. The only reason I sort of cared was because I was on the cheerleading team, but I never really cared to watch the game. I much prefer the after parties where we either celebrate hard because we won, or we drown our sorrows because we lost.

Bonnie, Elena and I were walking around the school enjoying the cooler weather but god all of this talk about the upcoming game was giving me a headache. I knew Tyler and Matt were both stupidly excited, my parents had big hopes that Tyler could get a scholarship to some big shot university due to his football skills. I wanted to laugh and say he'd never get one because the dude couldn't pass a drug test but I held back. I loved my brother, but I wished he made better choices.

Bonnie stopped walking, "Elena, I'm not saying don't date the guy but I'm just saying to take this slow. There's no rush."

I stopped, glancing between the two now being pulled out of my thoughts. My eyebrows scrunched up as I eyed them both, had I been that out of it that I hadn't noticed them arguing? Over Stefan?

Elena scrutinized her, "But you were the one who originally said to go for it."

Bonnie sighed, "And now I'm saying to take it slow."

"Why that face then?" Elena questioned, picking up on Bonnie's soured expression.

"Elena, you are going to be single for the first time since we've started high school. This is the perfect time to play the field." Bonnie suggested, giving me a look.

I interjected, "She has a good point Elena, we're young. It's time to have fun and scope out your options."

Elena scoffed, "Oh, because I'm so that girl. Seriously, what are you not saying Bonnie?"

Bonnie sighed, finally deciding to give in, "I accidentally touched Stefan last night and I got a really bad feeling."

"Is that it? Seriously Bonnie." Elena said, giving her a ridiculous look.

"It was bad bad!" Bonnie reasoned, still holding back.

Elena rolled her eyes, "Is this the whole witch psychic thing again?"

Bonnie looked away feeling defeated, "You know what? I'm just concerned Elena. This is me expressing my concern about my best friend's new boyfriend."

"And I love you for it, I do. But I feel good, like really good. It's been a hard year, and I'm starting to feel like things are getting back to normal again and you know what? Stefan is a big part of that. He makes me happy."

Ouch. I thought me and Elena had bonded a lot over this past summer but that kind of hurt. Some guy waltzes into her life and suddenly she's feeling normal again.

"Elena, cut her some slack ok? I mean honestly you did just meet the guy, and I'm glad you are feeling back to normal again but don't make your happiness dependent on another person. It'll only lead to disappointment because they will let you down or hurt you in some way. Me and Bonnie don't want that to happen to you." I butted in, not wanting to have Bonnie thrown under the bus.
