"A costume is something people wear when they want to be someone or something else. You wear yours every day, pretending like you aren't that person when infact you are. You can only hide behind a mask for so long before what lies beneath is revealed. And it'll be like a blind man seeing the sun for the first time."

𝓝𝓮𝓻𝓿𝓸𝓾𝓼. That's how I felt as me and Elena sat in one of the booth's at the Grill waiting for Stefan to arrive. Elena had called me this morning asking me to meet Stefan with her. Being the rational person that I am I said hell no, but she had literally dragged me out of my bed and shoved me in her car so I didn't have much of a choice. I wasn't too eager to meet with the man, vampire, bloodsucker, whatever you prefered. I would like to keep my blood inside of my body where it belonged.
"Do I need to be here?" I asked, surveying the Grill.
Elena rolled her eyes, "Yes, would you have preferred for me to meet him alone?"
I sighed looking over at her relaxed figure, "Of course not, but this has to be one of the stupidest things we have ever done."
Stefan then appeared in front of us and slid into the booth across from us. My heart rate picked up, which I'm sure he could hear. I so wished I was drunk, maybe this would go a lot easier if I was. I should've ordered a spiked drink I thought bitterly.
"You said you would explain everything, that is why I called you to meet us here. When you google vampire you don't really get the truth, so what is?" Elena confidently spoke, staring him down.
Stefan sighed looking between the two of us, "I can tell you whatever you two want to know."
"I know you eat garlic, you practically scarf down garlic bread." I blurted out.
Stefan chuckled, "What can I say? I enjoy it."
Elena rolled her eyes, "Glad we settled that. And somehow the sun is not an issue."
The waitress set the drinks we ordered down in front of us, I eagerly grabbed my coke and took a long sip. I wished I had some nice rum to go along with this but oh well, it was probably better to talk to the blood sucking vampire sober.
"We have rings that protect us."
"Crucifixes?" Elena asked leaning forward.
"Decorative."
"Holy water?"
"Drinkable."
"Mirrors?"
"Myth."
I rolled my eyes, "What is this? Bram Stoker's Dracula?"
Elena elbowed me hard, while Stefan chuckled at my reference. I scowled before taking another drink of my precious sugary drink.
"You said you don't kill to survive, how is that?" Elena asked, capturing my interest.
"I drink animal blood, it keeps me alive but not as strong as Damon. He can be very...powerful."
I glared, "And you let him get involved with Care?"
Stefan sighed, giving us an apologetic look, "Look, forcing him to do or not do something is much more dangerous. Trust me."
Elena scoffed, "He was hurting her!"
"He was feeding on her, and taking her memories away of being bitten by a form of mind compulsion. She never knew what was happening to her as she was made to forget. If he wanted to kill her, he would have."
