❝You've gotta dance like
there's nobody watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth.❞
- William W. Purkey

𝓛𝓲𝓯𝓮 only seemed to get more complicated from here, but I thought it would get better, but I was wrong. Life was rarely simple, nor easy and it seemed like every day was going to prove just that. We were all supposed to be celebrating Mystic Falls in all of its glory, but I had other things on my mind. There were more important things to be dealing with, but here I was playing dress up in period clothing waving to the crowd.

A full day in period clothing, and agonizingly painful heels have sent me over the edge. The good old Founder's Day, was upon us and all the pageant participants had to be apart of the parade - and I was ecstatic when I finally able to take off the horribly hot, and itchy period clothing. I had put some random clothes I grabbed from my closet, if they didn't match I didn't care. I was just happy to finally be comfortable.

My head was pounding as I listened to Stefan and Elena talk, I haven't had the chance to talk to anyone after the parade as my mother was busy hounding me on doing my duties as the Mayor's daughter. The usual talking to everybody, posing for pictures, helping organize the event and more. The day soon faded into the night and the cool air enveloped everybody, and I wrapped my cream colored cardigan around me as the wind blew. I was standing in the middle of town square with Elena and Stefan.

The town square was decorated beautifully, no doubt the sleepless nights my mother and I endured had paid off. My father, the Mayor, was more involved in the practical affairs of the event leaving the other duties to my mom and I. Unfamiliar faces were decorating the crowd causing a frown to grace my face. Goosebumps began to litter my skin, something wasn't right.

"Does something feel off to you two?"

Stefan and Elena glanced at each other before he asked, "What do you mean?"

My dark gray orbs surveyed the area, "I don't recognize a lot of the people here. I'm the Mayor's daughter and I know everyone." Stefan frowned as he began to look around.

Damon came up out of nowhere and grabbed my hand, "What are you doing?" I questioned quietly.

"Saving your life. Tomb vampires are here, and the founding families are their target," he turned towards Stefan, "Get them out of here. Now!"

Damon released my hand and began to walk away, as I ran after him, "Where are you going?"

"You need to leave, princess." Damon turned towards me as I practically ran to keep up with him.

"I'm not leaving without you," I reached forward and grabbed his hand causing him to stop.

His light blue eyes stared into a mine as a frown spread across his face, "Fine. Stay right beside me and do not leave my side."

We quickly ran through the town; Damon had grabbed my hand once more as it was easy to get lost in the crowd. My father was giving a speech as my mother stood nearby proud as could be. I knew he was doing this right before the fireworks started, it was what always happened. We were heading out of the crowds towards the familiar part of town. My stomach dropped as I saw the familiar sign posted on the building, Dr. Grayson Gilbert, it read.

Damon opened up the door and we found John there messing around with the device, "Do you have any idea what you have done?" Damon questioned harshly, letting go of my hand to step towards him threateningly.
