As Hinata locks his bike at the bike rack near the gymnasium he can't help but yawn loudly.
Liking a girl so much is so tiring ugh
Hinata thought to himself. He walked toward the club room to only encounter a locked door, he was early again, about half an hour early than he should have been.
"Oi dumbass, you cheated" Kageyama called out from the staircase
"Eh what do you mean Kageyama?" Hinata asked puzzled
"We didn't race up here, you just came here way before I did. Heh you probably knew you'd lose today and decided to try and find a loophole. Well it won't work! We're still tied 6 to 6 dumbass" Kageyama said walking toward him
"Oh sorry, I didn't know" he said exasperated
Kageyama was confused, why would Hinata apologize to him? Why didn't he try to make an excuse or insist he won fair and square? The setter then noticed the dark circles under Hinata's eyes. "You look tired Hinata, did you sleep at all?"
"No, I couldn't sleep, I tried but I couldn't even get an hour of sleep" Hinata admitted
"Dumbass, you're still going to his my tosses the same I don't care how tired you are" Kageyama said crossing his arms scolding his partner
"Sigh, of course I will, I want to beat the Great King too" Hinata sat in front of the club room door. "Hey Kageyama, can I ask you something?"
"You just did dumbass"
"Come on you know that's not the question" Hinata grumbled
"I was teasing dumbass, ask away" Kageyama replied
Hinata took a deep breath "if you liked someone a lot, and they were your friend, how would you tell them?"
Kageyama perched his eyebrow "is that why you couldn't sleep? You were thinking about how much you like Yachi?"
"Yeah... I don't know why Kageyama, why did it take me so long to figure out my feelings? I mean I knew I was a little closer to her than usual but I just thought we were just really close" Hinata said in despair, he was in distress and it was clear. Kageyama looked at the gloomy orange haired boy and sat in front of him
"I don't know exactly how you're feeling, I've never really thought about that. My focus is volleyball and volleyball only."
Hinata was about to dismiss Kageyama until the raven haired setter continued
"But if it were me in your shoes, well I guess I'd use the same confidence I have for volleyball in asking her out. You're pretty confident in volleyball even though your receivers are shitty. So just think of telling Yachi your feelings as you would when you do a super quick attack"
Hinata looked up at the former King in the eyes totally in shock that this jerk, this moron, has something smart to say and something he could understand. He couldn't help but smile and take a breath after
"That's pretty smart Kageyama, I guess all that studying we did with Yachi made your brain bigger" Hinata laughed as he stood up
"Tch I was always smart, you're the one who didn't know how to hit a straight until Bokuto-San taught you" Kageyama said flatly
"Thanks Kageyama" Hinata grinned back on his feet, his energy had returned to him and now he couldn't wait to get to practicing their quick
"Oi just don't go treating Yachi any different or you'll blow it" Kageyama pointed out
"Ehhh?!" Hinata jumped up shocked
"Hey you annoying first years! How long have you been up there?" Yelled Tanaka walking toward the staircase twiddling with the keys to the club room. "Ahahaha you are helpless without your trusty senpai!"
