33. The Sunyshore Gym

The doors of the gym/tower opened up with a thud. The tower was about three storeys tall, which means, three tiring flights of steps. I groaned at that and began climbing the steps. Barely in, an electrician intercepted me.

" Woah, what's a kid like you doing here? "

" Umm, isn't this a Gym? "

" Well yeah, it is. Oh, I get it. You're here to challenege Volkner aren't you? "

I nodded, " And I get it too. You are here to challenge me, aren't you? "

He thought about it and stated, "Nice idea, kid. My back's killing me from all the work Volkner is handing over. Some breaks should give the excitement I've been missing. "

Ah, dang it. Me and my big mouth. Riolu face-palmed.

He tossed a Pokeball which released a Magnemite. The ball with dual magnets stared at us, emotionlessly.

I threw the Pokeball, " Grotle! Take it down! "

Grotle, who popped out, understood the code and executed a Takedown. With his head, he crashed into the Magnemtie sending it reeling.

" Ooh, " the electrician began, "Code languages I see. Nice try. Magnemite, Thunder Shock! "

The magnets on either side rotated and generated a blast of electricity. The current collided with Grotle but no serious damage was done. Type Advantages are sometimes very convenient.

The electrician continued, " Now, Tackle! " The steel body of Magnemite slammed into Grotle's face before anything could be done. Grotle shook himself awake.

I retaliated, " Razor Leaf, now! " The sharp leaves darted forward. Magnemite was not particularly affected but that gave way to this: " Now Double Edge! "

Grotle hurled his weight at the magnet Pokemon. Magnemite reeled back and crashed into the wall, out of bounds.

The man looked amazed, " That was quick work. Kinda embarassed  but that's okay. Magnemite, return. Electabuzz'll handle the rest. "

The bipedal yellow electric monster popped out. I could feel the hair on my arms stand. The static developed around Electabuzz due to the electric outpour is the reason. It beat its chest to indicate its readiness.

The man declared, " Electabuzz, Thunder Punch! "

Electricity from its body condensed around its right fist. With a roar, it charged at Grotle. I retaliated, " Energy Ball! "

Moments before impact, Grotle formed the green ball of energy and shot it at point blank. The ball collided with the electricity and a massive explosion occured. Once the smoke settled, Grotle looked unharmed but Electabuzz's right arm looked busted. The man wailed, " Aw man! No more Thunder Punches then... Thunder !"

Electabuzz cried out and a thundercloud formed above Grotle. Before I could even say, a destructive bolt hit Grotle, hard. The blast of yellow was bright and Grotle was paralyzed. The electrician cheered, " That's more like it! "

I smirked, " Grotle, Absorb. "

The guy's eyes widened. Particles of light began swarming from Electabuzz's body to Grotle's. The stolen energy was used to heal the paralysis. On his own accord, Grotle used Synthesis to regain lost health.

" Not fair! " the electrician complained.

" You asked for this. Grotle, Vine Whip! " The appendages dashed and whipped Electabuzz. It tried to block the whipping but barely managed. Each time he tried to grab one, another one snapped at it. Then finally, I said, " Finish it off with Razor Leaf. "
