I walked down the stairs and entered the living room once again. Sam was sitting in front of the fireplace, head on her knees as she cried softly. I walked over to couch, picking up a soft blanket and made my way over to the weeping girl. "Sammy?" Calling her name, I placed the blanket over her shoulders, she flinched at the sudden contact and picked her head up slightly.

Sam wasn't one to show her emotions too much, I don't think I've ever seen her cry. "We should have gone after them. I should have tried harder to warn her about the prank. I could have done something."

"Sam, you weren't in on the prank, it's not your fault." I put an arm around her and my other hand on her arm. There was a loud screech outside, sounded almost unhuman. Sam and I both jumped up and ran to the window, looking out into the darkness. "What the hell was that?" Fast footsteps followed the voice as Mike ran down the stairs, "Was it Hannah? please tell me it was!" Sam and I shook our heads sadly and he continued to approach us.

"Fuck fuck shit! Forget it, I'm going out there."

"Mike!" I exclaimed, grabbing his arm, "There's no use getting yourself lost too. We will call the police in the morning. We leave tomorrow anyway, we can look in the light." Mike was always the kind of person that puts his friends first, even if it meant getting himself killed. I know Emily has been a bad influence on him. The old Mike would have never pulled that prank, he knew it would hurt Hannah and he knew how she felt about him.

"I'm such an asshole, this isn't me. I'm not like this," He started to ramble on about nonsense.

"Mikey, we know, we know who you are. Come here, we can all stay up a bit longer to see if they come." He nodded, following Sam and I to the couch. I sat in between them, rubbing Mike's back with my hand. Every good friend group has to have a mom of the group, and that's me.

We were silent for a while, Just listening to each others breathing. It was comforting for a while, but my eyes started to grow heavy. "Alright, we've waited long enough. You both have to get some sleep, we will look for them tomorrow." Sam hesitantly stood up and walked to the stairs, after a minute or two Mike and I heard a door open and close. Getting my hopes up for a second, but only realizing it was Sam entering her room.

"Alright lovebirds, come on." Mike jumped as Chris' voice met our ears. "(y/n) come on, I can't sleep."

"Damn, it's tough being a mom to eight teens" Mike joked, trying to lighten the mood.

"He's the problem child." I replied, pointing in the direction of the blonde haired male standing on the steps. This earned a laugh from both of them.

"You go. I'm going to sleep down here tonight, don't wanna wake Em." I gave him a knowing look before dragging Chris back to our room. Pushing him onto the bed, "Turn around, I wanna change out of these jeans." He rolled his eyes and turned his head. Quickly I changed into sweatpants and a tank top, jumping onto the bed and under the covers. the sun was already rising, we would get maybe an hour of sleep, if any.

Like I thought, we woke up an hour later to loud knocks on the door. "Aw make it stop!" Chris complained as he chucked a pillow towards the barrier that blocked us from the person.

"I'm going out to look for them before we have to go. (y/n), you wanna come?" Mikes voice was muffled by the door, I peeled my eyes open and mumbled some inaudible words. "Please." His voice sounded desperate and weak, I haven't heard him sound like this since we were kids and his dog had ran away.

"I'll be out in a minute." I called back, my voice came out scratchy and deeper than normal. Throwing the blankets off, I told Chris to stay in bed for a while and try to drink some water for his headache. Exiting the room, I found Mike sitting outside my door. "So, why do you want me to come? Thought you would rather take Emily or even Josh."

"I broke up with Emily, yeah, she left a few minutes ago. I wasn't me when I was with her. And as for Josh, he's pretty torn up about this and if we do find anything, then I don't want him to have to see it. Plus just between you and me, you've always been my favorite." A grin spread across my lips when he said this.

"I'm coming too." Jess walked up behind us, wearing a backpack and a winter coat. I just nodded along and exited the cabin, following Mike into the woods.

"Hannah? Beth!" We called out for the twins, desperately searching in the snow for any sign of footprints, anything to show they were here. A loud scream was heard up ahead, Jess moved closer to us and I grabbed the back of Mike's jacket. "That could be them!"

"No Mike. I have a bad feeling about this, that's what we heard last night. If it was them then they would have gotten back by now. Let's go, we will call the police and they will find them. I don't want anything happening to us now either."

"I agree with (y/n). We need to go anyway Mike, please." Jess pleaded with him, Mike nodded his head slowly and let us lead him back to the lodge.

After a few minutes all of my stuff was packed and I was ready to go back home. Mike, Chris, Ashley and I all exit the cabin together and head towards the cable car.

"We shouldn't leave them here. I feel terrible." Ashley was rambling on about how sorry she was.

"We aren't just leaving them here, we called the cops, Matt and Sam are staying with Josh until they show up. I don't know what else we can do," I took Mike's hand in mine and slowly rubbed my thumb over the back of it to comfort him.

The cable car came, Mike, Chris, Ashley and I entered slowly. I never did good with heights, always been terrified of them. I moved closer to Chris and he threw an arm around my shoulders as an attempt to help calm me down.

The ride was filled with bad jokes from Chris and Mike, which earned pity laughs from Ash and I. When the car came to a stop we all got out, going our separate ways.
