Chapter 20

“Dear Future Husband” Meghan Trainor

I haven’t talked to Thomas in about 3 days. I miss him. I really do. I don’t know why I broke up with him though. I guess it just hurt more to be happy, with someone, then to be sad and alone. I look at the ring on my finger. I hurts to keep it on, but I can’t take it off.

I haven’t talked to anyone since Thomas left and I don’t know if I ever will. It hurts too much to talk about it. About everything, but if I don’t talk I’m worried I might explode. Why is life so complicated? I wish Thomas was here. And if on cue, I hear the doorbell ring. I’m the only one home, so I go and open it. It’s Thomas. I instinctively wrap my arms around his neck and hold him close. He does the same to me.

“I love you,” he whispers in my ear. I’m stunned. He still loves me! Even after everything I did to him. I look up at him and smile.

“You do?” I say. He looks confused.

“Of course! Why would I be here if I wasn’t,” he says, surprising me. That’s a good question.

“I’m sorry,” I tell him, laying my head back down on his chest. Thomas holds me closer and tighter. His face is nuzzled in my hair.

“Don’t be,” he says. I pull back and look at him. I give him a confused look.

“Why? I was a horrible girlfriend, a horrible fiancée, and worst of all a horrible person. I don’t deserve you!” I explain. How can he still love me? How can he just let this all go? Thomas pulls me back into his body.

“Love, don’t say that,” he begins. Then he pulls away and continues “Lets just forget about the last couple days. Okay, Love,” he says pulling me closer towards him again. I smell his cologne.

“I love you, Thomas,” I tell him. He squeezes tighter. I know he loves me too.

The next couple days were really hectic. Thomas and I started planning our wedding. We decided to have if here, in Wisconsin, so Luke can be close. We also decided on a date; October 3rd. That’s about 5 months away. I’m so nervous. I still need my dress, bridesmaids dresses, a place, invitations, Thomas’ tuxedo, and that’s only the beginning.

I’m so excited, but I’m also never been more scared. All I want is for Thomas to be mine forever. I want him to be my husband. I love him so much.

Then all of a sudden 2 muscular arms wrap around me from behind. It’s Thomas. He pulls me up out of my chair. He scared me a bit and I jumped. He holds me close.

“Sorry, Love, did I scare you?” he asks in his adorable accent.

“A little,” I tell him, then kiss him on the cheek.

“What are you doing?” he asks me, seeing I have written every detail of our wedding down. I’m really weird about organizing this kind of stuff.

“I wrote down every detail of our wedding,” I say with pride. He laughs and kisses the top of my head.

“You are such a dork sometimes, but I love it,” he tells me. He sits on the chair I was sitting on. Then Thomas pulls me down on his lap. I explain everything to him. I show Thomas the seating arrangement, at the place finally picked out.  We decided to get married in the church my parents were married at and have the reception in my Grandpa’s old barn. I always wanted a barn wedding. Thomas wasn’t too thrilled with a barn wedding, but when I kissed him and pouted, he gave in.

Today, Sara, Mom, my 2 best friends from school, Cassie and Kimberley, and I all go dress shopping. Sara, Kimberley, and Cassie both get darker lavender colored dresses. And I get my dress. A white, long, lace dress with a sweetheart neck line and a matching purple sash. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it.

While we went dress shopping. I had Landon, Dad, my other best friend, Sean, and Thomas go tuxedo shopping. Thomas also had to get one for Dylan, who was Thomas’ best man. I only hope Thomas picked out all of them.

We get back home and Thomas shows me the matching tuxedos. I sigh in relief.

“Can I see what you ladies picked out,” Thomas asks. I show him Sara’s, Kimberley’s and Cassie’s matching dresses. I also show him the dress we bought for his sister. Then I show him the one my Mom picked out.

“Can I see yours”?” he says childishly, wanting to know what it looks like. I know he hates surprises. I shake my head and lean in towards his ear.

“You’ll have to wait until our wedding day!” I whisper softly. I kiss his cheek and walk to my room, that we have been sharing. I put Ava, Cassie, and Sara’s dresses in my closet then take my dress and hide it in my Mom’s closet. I hope Thomas doesn’t find it.
