8 | The Signing of the Dating Contract

"I'm sorry, but could you repeat what you just said?" Yeonjun said in utter shock, hoping that his ears were playing tricks on him as his mind had yet to process what he had just heard.

"Yeonjun, meet Mr Choi Soobin who will be your 'boyfriend' for the next 5 months- according to the contract, which you and Mr Choi Soobin will sign later," Bang Si Hyuk smiled.

Both males exchanged confused looks.

"IM SORRY BUT I REFUSE TO DATE A COUNTRY BUMPKIN" Yeonjun shouted.

Soobin was clearly offended by Yeonjun's sudden remark, but he, too, wasn't willing to date such a rude person either. If anything, he'd rather drop out of uni than be stuck with this Karen for 5 whole months of torment and migraines.

"I'm so sorry Ms Kim, but I think I'll have to back out of the deal. Have a nice day," Soobin said as he quickly bowed down before heading out of the building.

Bang Si Hyuk placed a palm over his forehead, while Secretary Kim immediately ran after Soobin. "MR CHOI SOOBIN! PLEASE RECONSIDER THIS!" Her shouts echoing through the building in hopes of grabbing Soobin's attention.

Letting out a sigh, Bang Si Hyuk gestured Yeonjun to sit down on the couch.

Silently cursing under his breath, Soobin speed-walked out of the building in an attempt of a getaway. Who cares how much they'd pay him? There's no fucking way he'd date that brute for 5 solid months. Just as Soobin was about to walk across the road, he felt a hand being placed on his shoulder.

"MR CHOI SOOBIN! PLEASE SPARE ME ANOTHER MINUTE TO EXPLAIN!" Secretary Kim pleaded, gasping desperately for air as she attempted to articulate her words.

"Ms Kim, I'm truly sorry but I cannot date someone who's so ill-mannered. Not to mention a complete brat" he scowled bitterly.

"Care to explain what happened? We can do this inside the building," she begged. Soobin walking out of the deal would mean a whole additional day of scouting for decent men, WHICH she absolutely didn't want to do as Soobin was genuinely the best catch she has gotten so far.

He'd feel bad if he were to leave now as Soobin glanced at the look of desperation in her eyes. The most he could do was to explain the reason for his sudden cancellation on the deal- maybe then they would understand how he was feeling about all of this. Letting out a sigh, Soobin mumbled a "fine," as he followed her back inside the building

"Yeonjun, look at me," Bang Si Hyuk spoke calmly.

Not daring to look at him in the eye, Yeonjun hung his head low, deeply regretting for lashing out like that in front of his boss earlier.

"Is there something between you and Mr Soobin Secretary Kim and I aren't aware of?" He asked with a sigh. The calmness of his voice only served to make Yeonjun feel worse for his sudden outburst earlier.

"Truth is, we met earlier this evening..." Yeonjun muttered.

"I see, carry on," he nodded.

Yeonjun explained about the whole drink incident at the cafe and talked about the tension between the two males.

"Why don't you give him a second chance?" Bang Si Hyuk suggested.

"Nope, not happening." Yeonjun sighed.

Massaging the side of his head- which was throbbing slightly- Bang Si Hyuk took his phone out of his pocket

Bang Si Hyuk : Is Mr Choi Soobin still with you?

Secretary Kim : Yes he is, why?

Bang Si Hyuk : come down to the lounge, bring Mr Choi Soobin as well

Secretary Kim : 👌🏻

After telling Secretary Kim about the whole drama at the cafe, Soobin explained how that was the reason for all the stress between the two. Hoping that she'd perhaps understand and empathise his situation a little better now with some context given.

"Mr Choi Soobin, please reconsider this." Secretary Kim pleaded for the 1000000th time.

"As I mentioned earlier, I'm no longer interested in this job offer. I'm so sorry for taking up your time, if there's nothing else I'll be going. Have a good evening, Ms Kim," Soobin said as he got up, heading towards the door until he was interrupted.

"WE WILL PAY YOU AN EXTRA 50,000 WON DAILY!" She shouted.

Soobin came to a halt and let out a long sigh. He knew money wasn't going to solve the pain that will bring him if he agreed to his job, but it would definitely lift the burden of working overtime to pay his tuition fees.

"What are you suggesting, Ms Kim?" He asked.

"I'm asking you to consider this deal and to work with Mr Choi for just 5 months," she said firmly.

Soobin thought about it for a while, he knew that working with Mr Choi would be a pain in the ass but with the extra money, it did sound somewhat endurable.

"I guess I will do it," he said, letting out a sigh. Secretary Kim couldn't suppress a triumphant smile as she beckoned him to follow her outside.

Yeonjun and Soobin sat at opposite ends of the couch, not daring to make eye contact.

"So, I'm assuming it has been settled and that Mr Choi Soobin will date Yeonjun for 5 months?" Bang Si Hyuk asked.

"Yes, I've talked it out with Mr Soobin and he agreed," Secretary Kim smiled.

Soobin swore he could hear Yeonjun silently cursing at him.

"Mr Choi Soobin, please read the contract thoroughly before signing it," Bang Si Hyuk said as he passed a few sheets of paper to soobin.

Soobin read the contract briefly and continued to flip the pages until he saw the page where the rules were stated,
Rules of the contract :

- The contract will only last up to 5 months.
- The status of the relationship will only be known to Bang Si Hyuk and a few others until it will be announced to the public.

Soobin read the first 3 rules and then quickly skimmed through the rest until he saw the last one :

- Displaying affection towards each other in public places are strictly prohibited, for privacy and protection from paparazzi.

Pfffft affection my ass.

He took a pen out from his pocket and signed the contract, passing the contract paper and the pen to Yeonjun to read through it and to sign it as well. After both males have signed the paper, they handed it to Secretary Kim, the two of them collectively heaving a heavy sigh, seemingly as if they had traded their souls to the devil.

"So it has been settled!" Bang Si Hyuk clasped his hands together happily.

"If there's nothing left to do I'll be going home now," Yeonjun rolled his eyes and grabbed his coat. Soobin bowed down and got ready to head out as well.

"Yeonjun where do you think you're going?" Bang Si Hyuk asked.

"Home, duh," he replied as if the question he just asked was a no-brainer.

"Aren't you gonna invite Mr Soobin to your house?" Bang Si Hyuk asked.

Yeonjun raised an eyebrow at the bizarreness of the question. "What? Of course not," He replied with a "tut", "we're mere strangers obliged to a contract"

"Oh, that's a shame, just so you know Soobin will be staying at your place from now on,"
