[ T/W: mentions of blood and death ]
Yeonjun's eyes fluttered open, tasing a bitter metal sensation in his mouth. His vision was narrow and slim as he felt a jabbing pain in his head- as if it has been split open. He looked down only to feel the cold touch of his mother's hand, which laid on his lap.
He winced in agony as he turned his head to the right; he saw his very own mother now, caked in blood. The car had crashed into a tree which had fallen onto the road.
I have to call for help.
Yeonjun thought weakly as his hand trembled to his mother's bag, searching for her phone. He felt his head spin viciously, his vision getting blurry. In defeat, he closed his eyes. His cold hand plopped over his mother's handbag.

"Oh my god, he's waking up!" A female's voice spoke.
"Yeonjun! Yeonjun! Can you hear us?" Another one said.
"Shhhh, let the boy wake up first," An unfamiliar one uttered.
Yeonjun opened his eyes slowly to see blurry faces hovering over him, slowly but surely, the faces got more and more distinct until he was able to differentiate them.
"Dad? Where am I?" Yeonjun spoke, sitting up. He looked around to find himself in a hospital room with an IV drip inserted in his hand.
"Yeonjun don't you remember anything?" His father spoke.
Yeonjun searched his mind, to recall what had happened before waking up. In his mind, formed images of him in a car crash with his mother.
"C-car c-crashh, rainy day," Yeonjun shuddered.
"You've been unconscious for 3 days now, we were so worried you weren't going to wake up," The female voice said, which turned out to be Yeonjun's aunt.
"Where's mom? I want to see her, is she okay?" Yeonjun asked.
The three adults exchanged worried looks, looking at each other desperately deciding who should deliver the news to the poor boy.
"Your mother didn't survive..." His father spoke.
Those words echoed through Yeonjun's mind, he searched his father's face, wishing he was joking. He wasn't, and Yeonjun knew that from his father's sorrow expression.
He then only realised that the three adults were all dressed in black.
"N-no," Yeonjun quivered, feeling a sour sensation in his eyes.
"Shhhh, it's okay," Yeonjun's grandmother said, patting Yeonjun's back.
Only it wasn't. And all four of them knew it. Yeonjun tried to hold it in, but he couldn't. His eyes began to swell as waterfalls of tears began to stream down his cheeks, he couldn't breathe, he couldn't say a word. There were so many questions Yeonjun wanted to ask them, but he couldn't. He couldn't bring himself to do so. His sniffles then turned into wails. He wanted to scream, begging himself to wake up from this nightmare.
But this wasn't a horrific dream, in fact, the passing of Yeonjun's mother was something very much real, and was something that Yeonjun took a long time to accept.
