Tris POV:
After finishing up in District 1, we head back to base in District 13. Despite being able to collect some belongings, I still feel empty and lost. Half of my stuff is reminiscent of Four. We had so many memories together. I don't know what I'd do if he was gone for good. I head back to my room when Finnick comes up beside me, "Penny for your thoughts?" I look at him, confusion written on my face. "It's a saying people use to get people to tell them what's wrong. What's wrong Tris. It's written all over your face." I take a deep breath and let it out slowly.
"I really miss Four. And everything I own makes me miss him more. It's like a permanent cycle." He nods but doesn't say anything so I continue. "It's like everyday I lose a bit more of him. I don't know what to do with myself. I cant sit back and watch but the again there's also nothing I can do. I need him back. He meant everything to me, he still does." Finnick looks at me for a long moment before he hugs me, I fight the urge to cry. I can't cry, not in front of these people. "Its going to be okay Tris. We are doing everything we can to get him and Peeta back. And I won't stop until they are both back here safe. I make it my promise to you. I don't ever break my promises. Ever." I nod and thank him before I go into my room. I tell myself that I can do this and that I can trust these people. They've been nothing but nice to me so why does it feel like I can't trust them?
I pace for a while before going to look for Katniss. I spot Belle, I stop her before she hurries off. "Hey Belle. Have you seen Katniss? I need to talk to her." Belle shakes her head.
"No I haven't, I'm looking for her too."
I frown. "Why do you need to talk to her?" I ask, confused.
"It's about Peeta."
"Has something happened? Is he okay?" I ask suddenly worried for her.
"Peeta's okay. I just anted to talk to her about what his weaknesses are and what we could do to bring him back." I sigh in relief.
"Thank God. If I see her I'll tell her to come find you." Belle nods a thank you and turns to go look for Katniss in the direction I just came from. I decide to head to the cafeteria before going back to my room.
I see Katniss sitting on her own, staring at her plate. I plop down next to her. "Hey" I say softly, not wanting to startle her. She turns to look at me but doesn't say anything. "I need to talk to you." We both say at the same time. I nod to her. "You go first. I feel like yours is more important." She says.
I sigh and look down. "Something doesn't feel right here. I feel like they are hiding something from us. But I don't know what. It might be stupid but I trust my gut." I look up at her.
"It's okay, I agree with you but I guess we just have to wait to find out. Whatever it is, we will figure it out between us."
I nod. "What did you want me to talk to me about.?" This time, it was her who looked away.
"I really really miss Peeta. I don't know what they're doing to him but it doesn't feel good. I can't sit around doing nothing to help but there isn't much we can do." I nod and take her hand.
"That's exactly how I feel too. Oh and Belle is looking for you."
