Fire And Ice

Chapter 15

Tris POV:

*2 months later*

It's been two months since Four and Peeta were resuced. Peeta is allowed to do whatever he wants, he's proven he isn't a threat and people have welcomed him with open arms. Four, on the other hand, is a different story. If they don't keep him mildly sedated he turns violent. I'm still not allowed to be around him, he isn't trusted enough to be free of his restraints. 'm worrying more every day that I won't get the old Four back. In the two months since their return I've only caught a few glimpses of that Four. Me, Katniss, Peeta and Finnick join Coin and her team to have a meeting everyday to come up with promo shoot ideas and plans to take down the Capitol. She leaves out the same detail every time. Who will rule Panem once Jeanine and Snow are dead? 

In one of the promo shoots we did, we encountered some problems with the people in District 2, they shot at us. I was lucky to have my bullet proof vest on. If I didn't my injuries could've been a lot worse. I ended up with bruised lungs, the doctor refuses to clear me for any more promo shoots or missions. I hate sitting here feeling helpless, Katniss has been great at keeping me in the loop. She tells me everything, she even visits Four for me. "Tris, I have big news." she says as she walks to my bed for the third time today, I sit up and brace myself for the news. "Coin is sending a troop to the Capitol. She doesn't want us to go with them." She says as she sits on the end of my bed. "Why is she sending people to the Capitol?" I ask, I know she hasn't properly figured out how to defeat Snow. "I think it's to capture Snow and give her footage to use in future promo shoots." I stare at the ceiling. This could finally be my chance to kill Snow. "You know what we have to do, don't you Katniss?" She looks at me blankly. 

"What do we have to do Tris? Maybe she isnt on the same page as me. 

"We need to go with them. We need to make our own way there or Coin will find out and bring us back." She nods in argeement. 

"There's a plane flying out with supplies, we can hide in that easily. No one will know where we are." Finally, she's on the same page as me. I look around my bed, I have no clothes with me and I can't go on a mission like this. I have to have some appropriate clothing. Almost as if she's read my mind Katniss says, "I'll go to your room and get you your clothes and then we can sneak out of here." I nod and wait for her to leave. I will finally be able to kill Snow and Jeanine. 

Later that day Katniss returns with a pile of my clothes and my boots. She closes the curtains around my bed and gives me privacy to change. I open the curtain and slide my boots on. "We're gonna have to be smart to get out of here without seeming suscpicious." She nods and walks out, I follow her slowly, my lungs still haven't fully recovered from being shot at. We get out of the hospital wing with ease. The corridors are practically empty. Most people are in the cafeteria. We get onto the plane and hide behind a big box of supplies. It takes a few hours for us to get to the Capitol. I put my hood on to try and conceal myself a litte, Katniss does the same. Slowly we make our way to out of the craft and go into the crowd. I keep my head down but all eyes turn our way. I sigh. I look up and see Finnick. This just got worse. He walks me and Katniss to our team area, not saying a word. He leaves us in our tent, I pack my bag with extra fod. "I've done that before . You're packing to go solo. Tris, you can't do that, you need our help." I look at her. 

"And I need to kill Snow and Jeanine." She actually gasps. "What?" I ask.

"You haven't heard? Jeanine was killed when we resuced Four and Peeta. None of our guys touched her though." That shocks me. We were the only ones that were in the President's house, so if we didn't kill her, who did?

"Alright guys, time to meet the team." Boggs voice rings out. We all get out of our tents and gather around the table. "This is Lietenant Jackson, she's my second in command." Boggs says. 

"This is my team. Cody, Cator, Homes and Cressida. She points at them indivdually. We nod our hellos. The makeshift doorway twitches and Finn walks through. I hug him. "What are you doing here?" I ask as I take a step back to look at him. 

"Got the all clear to be here." I nod and turn back to the group.

"Belle and her team are going to be tagging along with us to get some footage for District 13." Boggs says.

"It will be like we're not there." She says as she pulls out a box of pills. She hands us one each. "It's nightlock. If you're ever in a situation that you can't get out of and it is strictly necessary, you should have a way to escape. There is only one each."

Boggs gets out a computer device. "This is the Holo. Snow has set up pods throughout the city, this will help us see where they are." He presses a button and a map is projected showing all the pods. "These are the ones we know of, they might have changed so we have to stay careful." We nod and take a second to study the map. "We move out I ten. Get your stuff ready." And with that we are dismissed. 

Ten minutes later we start our journey into the deepest part of the Capitol. Boggs leads us and Lieutenant Jackson makes up the end. Boggs puts his hand up to stop our progress. "Pod up ahead." He nods to me and Katniss, silently telling us to shoot into the distance. We both prepare our arrows. "Wait. Perfect shot. Freddy." She points at us and he places his focus on us. Belle nods and we both let our arrows fly before ducking down behind a statue. Machine guns fire at the non-existent people. "We've covered ten blocks already, lets take shelter in a building and come up with a new plan." says Boggs standing up, we follow his lead. I stick close to Finnick, he might hate me right now but he's the only friend I have other than Katniss. We enter what appears to bean abandoned shoe shop. We sit down and take out some of our dry food when a rumbling sound grows louder. I abandon my food, pick up my bow and head out, a black car comes towards us. Boggs and Katniss stand next to me. "Stand down, it's one of ours." Lieutenant Jackson says as she comes up behind me. I watch as the car comes closer. When he steps out of the vehicle, I get my arrow ready to fire at him. What the hell is Four doing here? And Peeta? I keep my arrow poised as he comes closer. Lieutenant Jackson pushes past me and meets Four and Peeta. She shakes Peeta's hand. "It's great to see you Mellark." Peeta nods and comes to join us. I lower my arrow slightly. Jackson applies handcuffs to Four and I put my arrow back in its sheath. "These are just a precaution Four, okay?" She speaks to him in a soft and gentle tone. He nods and makes his way towards us. Instinctively, I tense up. "I'm sorry Tris." He says apologetically. 

Everyone else goes back into the makeshift shelter and I'm left with Boggs. "What is Coin doing? Is she trying to kill me or something?" I ask him.

"She doesn't like you, you think too much. That makes you dangerous. She never wanted to save you. I know you're here to execute your own plan and I will do what I can to help you but you have to give Four a chance. He's as much a part of this as you are." Boggs says and heads back inside. Why did things have to get so complicated? He seems calmer now but that doesn't mean anything. My life is still at risk.
