prologue

"Kang Jihyun, you'll be partnered with... Kim Sunwoo."

I could hear girls snickering and whispering behind me after the teacher's announcement about my partner assignment.

I don't have ears for no reason. They were already talking shit and whining about how I didn't deserve to be working with him.

I gulp, feeling my heart drop down to my stomach. I didn't want to work with someone like Kim Sunwoo; he seemed like the typical fuckboy who used people for his own good.

I'm not scared of him or anything, but those type of boys can get you into anything and everyone will believe it. You get partnered with a popular boy from school simply for a project and all the girls start going bat shit crazy on you, wishing they were you.

I didn't like having the attention on me; I have always stuck by myself and to the side, not being involved in anything. I only have two close friends that I really do trust, but other than that, everyone else is irrelevant to me.

But I can't do anything about it. I can't choose my own partner, and this project is 30% of my whole grade. As much as I dread the idea of having to see him every day to work with him, it's school. School is my number one priority.

I know I won't be interacting with this dude other than for school purposes. If he tries to go off topic, I'll ignore him. If he tries to talk to me about something other than school, I'll ignore him. I can't be involved in anything with him, Lord knows what would happen.

It's strictly just school, I don't want to be associating with him for anything other than that.

He's just any other fuck boy.

"Kim Sunwoo, raise your hand."

I turn to my right and see a boy with bright red hair raising his hand, looking directly at me with a smirk.
