(Peeta)
I'm on my way back from the bakery. It was a quick stop while Katniss is home with the kids and my dad and Ryeson. She's been asking for cheese buns since yesterday when she finished the ones Blake brought her, and its really hard to say no to her. When I'm arriving in front of my house I feel my heart pounding. I stop for a second, but I decide to ignore it. When I'm inside the house I feel a wave anger take over me. I know what's going on, but I can't seem to get myself out of the house. I'm having one of my flashbacks, but so far, it doesn't seem like its going to be an easy one. I've finally gained some control over myself and I'm out of the house. I only make it to the other side of the front door on the porch. Right away forehead is up on front door with my eyes shut tightly and my fists clenched beside my face. And then, I black out.
When I come back to my senses I find that I'm panting, searching for breathe, and I'm being pressed tightly to the wall by three people. Two of them on each side pushing my arms and shoulders back and the other one with their hands on my chest. I look around and see its my two brothers and Haymitch holding me back. My kids are in the doorway. Peete looks scared and Levinia looks shocked. Katniss is lying down in bed with my dad standing beside her. All eyes are on me, and they all seem to be panting as well. I don't know what I just did, but I'm just hoping I didn't hurt my wife, or anyone else. My brother's and Haymitch's grips have loosened on me, and when they have I rush past them to Katniss. I stroke her hair from her face and stroke her cheek when I speak.
"Oh god, Katniss are you okay?" I ask in worry. She nods.
"I'm fine."
"I'm so so sorry for anything I did. I didn't mean to-"
"Peeta, its okay. It's not your fault."
"But Katniss-"
"It's the Capitol's fault. They're the reason why you have these episodes." She says holding onto my hands. I let out a deep breathe before talking.
"Did I hurt anybody?" I ask looking around the room. Everyone shakes their heads. "Well, what happened?". They explain to me that I came rushing up the stairs and the second I spotted Katniss I lunged for her and started calling her horrible names that don't nearly describe her. But luckily my brothers stopped me and Haymitch just so happened to be on his way up to help them. My dad helped to protect Katniss and made sure the kids stayed out of my reach to not get harmed. They say that it lasted about 5 minutes. 5 long minutes.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry to everyone for having to witness one of those horrible episodes. It's been months since my last one, and it wasn't even bad. I guess this one has been building up for some time."
"You don't have to apologize for anything." Rye says. "You can't help it." I nod and sigh.
"Thank you for protecting Katniss."
"You don't have to thank us either." My dad says with a smile. Once we all feel its safe to leave Katniss and I alone, my family leaves, shutting the door, and leaving Katniss and I to ourselves. I sit on the edge of the bed beside her.
"Are you sure you're okay?" I ask.
"Peeta, I'm positive. You didn't even touch me." She pauses for a second. "Actually just a small scratch on my arm from when you reached out for me." She says raising her arm and showing me the 3-inch long scratch that has a little bit of blood dried up on it. I grab her wrist and kiss it slowly, multiple times over the whole wound while looking her deeply in the eyes the whole time as she smiles and returns the gaze
"I love you, you know that?" She says, stroking my hair on the back of my hair.
"I know." I softly reply. I put her hand in mine and rest it on her lap. "And I love you, too." Right then I move my lips to hers and connect them with a love that so great it makes my heart pound out of my chest. I want to continue, but after a while there's a knock on the door. It opens in time for us to separate our lips.
