(Peeta)
A boy....and a girl. My wife carrying our son and our daughter. The room is silent. The news still hasn't sunk in. Katniss is in shock. She hasn't said anything, she just stares at the screen. I bend down over her and whisper in a soothing voice:
"Katniss, sweetie. We're having a baby boy and a girl." She finally breaks a smile. A smile filled with joy that makes my heart skip a beat.
"I know." She whispers back in disbelief. We both move in half way to share a kiss filled with so much passion I don't want to pull away, but we do. Katniss and I look over to Levinia and Peete. Levinia has smile on and is explaining to Peete what's going on. When he gets it a big smile takes over his face and he turns to Levinia.
"Really?" He questions in a tone like Katniss' in disbelief.
"Yeah." Levinia whispers back in joy. The doctor brings us back to reality when he speaks.
"Mrs. Mellark, The boy is located on your left and the girl is on your right." We look at the pictures a little longer before he shuts it off. He gives me a paper towel to wipe Katniss' stomach and I do so.
"Will you be returning for a second appointment?" He asks.
"No, were gonna do the rest back home in 12." Katniss replies. Nurse Williams nods his head and greets us goodbye as he walks out the room. I help Katniss off the table. When she's about to step off the stool she catches me by surprise. She jumps onto me. Can she do that with twins in her? I guess so. Her legs are wrapped around my waist, her head is buried in my shoulder, and her arms are around my neck. I love it. I don't know what else to say. So I don't say anything. I just wrap my arms around her.
"I love you." She whispers into my shoulder. She picks herself up to look at me. We hold each others gaze for a while.
"I love you, too." I whisper back. And we share a kiss like the one we shared on the table a moment ago. We both pull away when we remember our kids are here. When we look they're not paying attention to us. They're both pretty into the game on Levinia's phone. I set Katniss down gently on her feet. We hold each other in one last hug.
"So do you guys have names yet?" Levinia asks. I intertwine mine and Katniss' fingers and we walk towards our kids.
"Yeah. Coincidentally we had 1 boy and 1 girl name." I say.
"Can I hear them?" She asks politely.
"Yeah, I want one to have a name like Daddy and mine!!" Peete shouts. I just laugh at him although its cute.
"For a boy we were thinking Bryant Devlin Mellark." I say.
"Bryant Devlin Mellark." Levinia says to herself thinking about it. She nods telling us to go on.
"And for a girl we have Ariana Lynn Mellark" she says the name again to herself and she smiles at us.
"I like them. Although I'm jealous that them and Peete have a middle name and not me." She says while getting up. Levinia doesn't have a middle name because we thought her name was beautiful enough without it and it would fit our daughter perfectly, and it does. Peete we felt should have one and he does. Rylan.
"I'm glad you like it. Now let's get out of here." Katniss says.
We arrive back at the building and we do as we said we would. We call Annie right away. We want her to tell her in person along with Haymitch, Effie, the prep team, and even Johanna. When they arrive we gather them in the living room. Johanna brings Gale, but not Hunter. Gale hasn't been much of a problem lately so Katniss and I are going to try to be kind until he screws up. Levinia and Finn are in her and Peete's room doing anything but the birds and the bees story. I trust them on that. Peete is sitting at the table eating chocolate cake. Not sure how he got it though.....
