Eight- Remus

Herbology.

I get to spend an hour with Severus Snape making snide comments to me throughout the lesson.

"Today, we will be studying certain plant leaves, so you will be working with who I pair you up with" says Professor Sprout as she walks into the greenhouse.

"Remus Lupin with Severus Snape" says Professor Sprout. What. Snape scowls at me. Trust me mate I don't want to be paired with you either

"So, Lupin, I take it that as you have the brain size of a peanut I'll be doing all the work" snarls Severus as he joins me, I laugh dryly "how funny you think you are, Severus" I state as I set up the apparatus used for us to study the plants. Mandrake leaves. That's the first one.

"So, missing your boyfriend are you, Lupin?" Asks Severus as I take down notes "I don't have a boyfriend" I lie through gritted teeth "oh don't be a tease, Lupin" snarls Severus as he too takes down notes "jealousy is a terrible trait, Severus" I state smiling at him. He turns his nose up "jealous? Of you? Why would I be jealous of you? You're nothing but a worthless monster. Why Dumbledore let you in this school being what you are I have no clue you don't belong here you filthy half breed" spits Severus

Before I know it my hand is around his throat and I've lifted him off of his feet "I am not a monster!" I exclaim in his face but before I can say much worse Professor Sprout separates us "you two! Up to the headmasters office right now!" Exclaims Professor Sprout, anger tainting her voice. I nod and go up to Dumbledore's office

"Sherbet Lemon" I state to get to Dumbledore's office. Snape follows me and we head to Dumbledore in silence. "Remus, Severus, to what do I owe the pleasure of your visits?" Asks Dumbledore with a kind smile "Professor sprout sent us" I reply, he nods, his smile faltering slightly "Severus come in, Remus you wait out here and you can explain when I'm finished with Severus" says Dumbledore. I nod and he takes Severus into his office.

I wait outside of Dumbledore's office for what seems like hours before Dumbledore opens the door and Snape comes out, making a point of shoving past me on his way out.

"Remus, in you come" says Dumbledore kindly and I walk into his office. The circular room with the high back arm chair and Fawkes the Phoenix perched on a stool.

"Now, I have heard Severus' version of events and from what I gather he has provoked you which caused you to lash out however, to create a fair judgement I have to hear both sides of the story. So sit down and tell me, Remus, what happened?" Asks Dumbledore. I offer him a half smile as I sit down on the chair opposite him. I clear my throat and look at Dumbledore

"So, in herbology, Professor Sprout paired Severus and I together which in my mind I thought was a bad idea. However, I didn't want to cause disruption to the class and I didn't see it as a big deal so I dealt with it" I begin, Dumbledore nods where appropriate as I explain my version of events

"However, Severus thought that this would be a good opportunity to taunt me. He called me names, telling me I'm a monster and a half breed and I couldn't contain my anger because all he does is get under my skin and before I knew it I was lifting him off the ground and screaming at him telling him I'm not a monster. I realise now that my actions were unnecessary and I understand if you wish to give me a punishment" I continue

Dumbledore clears his throat and softens his frown into a small smile "well, Remus, I'm glad you understand that your actions have consequences however, considering your actions were caused by Severus' provoking, your punishment will not be too harsh. I am only going to issue you two detentions that will be spent with Professor mcgonnogall tomorrow and Thursday" says Dumbledore. My heart rate slows and I feel a sense of relief

"Thank you, Professor" I reply, he nods and I leave his office. "I suppose you barely got anything" says Severus as I bump into him on the walk out of Dumbledore's office "do you ever shut up?" I ask bitterly, Severus laughs dryly "you're Dumbledore's favourite aren't you, Lupin? He always did have a liking toward mudbloods and half breeds and all the freaks of the wizarding world" spits Severus

"Don't use such disgusting terms, Severus!" I exclaim, Severus turns his nose up at me "what does it mean to you?" Asks Severus "you're being offensive to over half the school, believe it or not there aren't many pure blood families left in this world are there? So get over yourself lad, you need to get your head out of your ass and realise that we are all equals, a lot of the best wizards here are muggle born, stop criticising them" I state

I quickly walk ahead of Severus, deciding I've done enough. I walk to the great hall for lunch and join my friends. "What's up, Moony, we couldn't find you in the greenhouse so we came straight here" says James as I sit down "I was with Dumbledore, something happened between me and Snape" I say. They asked what happened and so I explained the whole ordeal, during which Sirius places a comforting hand on my thigh and rubbing small, soothing circles on my thigh which I appreciate as it calms my anger.

"Should've socked him one, moony" said Sirius "trust me, Padfoot, I would've" I replied "but I'm lucky to be let off with two detentions" I add. They all nod in agreement.
