Chapter 2

As Serbianna, Jillian, and Kharlah settled into their first class of the day, Serbianna's mind was preoccupied with her thoughts. The professor began the lecture, but she found it challenging to focus on the material being presented.

Kharlah, who was sitting beside her, noticed Serbianna's distant expression and nudged her gently. "Hey, are you alright?"

Serbianna blinked, momentarily taken out of her thoughts. "Oh, sorry. Ayos lang ako, may mga iniisip lang."

Jillian, who was on her other side, leaned in with concern. "Halata nga. Tungkol saan ba, Serbianna?"

Serbianna hesitated for a moment. "Ah, wala naman. Random thoughts lang. Let me borrow your notes later, I'll just take a quick coffee break."

Feeling the need for a moment to gather her thoughts and a quick pick-me-up, Serbianna decided to step outside of her class to take a coffee break. The campus coffee shop was just a short walk away, and the fresh air outside was a welcome change from the classroom atmosphere.

As she walked towards the coffee shop, she noticed the beautiful campus scenery around her. The sun was shining, casting a warm glow on the greenery and the flowers in bloom. Students were going about their day, and the buzz of campus life filled the air.

Upon entering the coffee shop, the inviting aroma of freshly brewed coffee greeted Serbianna, instantly making her feel more energized. She joined the line and took a moment to peruse the menu, trying to decide on her favorite coffee blend.

As she waited, she found herself lost in her thoughts again. The memories of her past with Alston resurfaced, but this time, they didn't weigh as heavily on her heart.

When it was her turn to order, Serbianna chose a comforting latte. As she waited for her coffee to be prepared, she decided to sit at a nearby table by the window. The view outside was soothing, and she took a deep breath, savoring the peaceful moment.

Just as she was about to take her first sip, she noticed a familiar face approaching – Tristan, the new transfer student with the cold demeanor. He had a book in hand, and there was a hint of a smile on his face as he noticed Serbianna.

"Mind if I join you?" Tristan asked, gesturing towards the empty chair at her table.

Serbianna was slightly surprised by the request but nodded warmly. "Of course, go ahead."

Tristan sat down, setting his book on the table. "I noticed you were alone, and I thought I'd say hi."

Serbianna smiled, appreciating the unexpected friendly gesture. "Thanks for joining me. How are you finding your time at Harmony University so far?"

Tristan shared some of his experiences as a new student, opening up more than he usually did. Serbianna listened attentively, finding their conversation surprisingly easygoing.

As Serbianna and Tristan continued their conversation in the campus coffee shop, they found themselves discussing the most challenging subjects in their respective courses.

"I have to admit, organic chemistry has been quite a struggle for me," Serbianna said with a small laugh. "The concepts and reactions can get really complex."

Tristan nodded, understanding her sentiments. "I can relate. Organic chemistry can be quite overwhelming. I'm in the engineering program, and for me, it's electromagnetics and circuit analysis that really keep me on my toes."

They continued to share their experiences, discussing the difficulties they faced in understanding certain topics and how they coped with the academic pressures.
