I'm starting my freshman year of college. I'm told I will be roommates with Ashtyn Black. It turns out the college made a mistake and now we have to adjust to living with the opposite gender.
I was never really good at talking to guys. I was a shy...
We were all gathered around the table. It was an awkward silence until dad started a conversation with ash.
"So Ashton what career are you leaning towards?" My dad asks.
"I'm going for a large animal vet tech."
"Oh so you and Niki want the same thing." Dad asks and ash nods.
"You better not play around with her. She needs to focus on her education."
"Dad we are just best friends. Nothing more."
"I know what just friends mean. How long do you think I lied and said your mom was just my friend?"
"Well I don't know dad but I can promise you that's all me and him are."
"Oh don't listen to your dad sweetie." Mom steps in. "But I do think you two would make a cute couple." She said and winked at me. Ughhh why do parents have to be so embarrassing. I can feel my face get hot as I finish up my dinner.
"I'm gonna go get Mac. I've missed him." My parents nodded so I went upstairs to my old room where Mac was being kept.
"Hey Mackey. How's my little buddy?" I coo to him.
"He's cute." I hear ash say from the doorway.
"That's your bed over their." I point to the far wall that holds a twin size bed. He nods and walks over to sit in the floor with me and Mac. Mac jumped in his lap and licked him on the lips. I started giggling.
After we were done with Mac I went back out to the barn to brush Bucky and Della. We were all pretty tired from the long drive so we went to bed early. As soon as I laid down I fell into a peaceful darkness.

We woke up early so we could say our goodbyes and head to ash's families house. All we did for the last two days was spend time with my parents and go on lots of trail rides. My dad kept a close eye whenever I was with ash and my mom kept saying how cute we looked. I would just shake my head and leave the room.
We were now all standing by the truck. Kayley already walked back to my house. Right now we was all hugging my parents good bye.
"Bye kids. You guys be safe and I would love to see you back here Ashton." My mom days and gives us all one final hug.
"Bye squirts. I'll see you next visit. Drive safe." My dad said and hugged everyone except for ash.
I had Mac in my hands and I went ahead and threw all his other necessities in the back of my truck. Me and ash got in the back while Luke and Kayley sat in the front again.
We were all singing along to Luke Combs song "Beautiful Crazy". I had my head on Ash's shoulder and I held Mac on my lap.
"So I was thinking. Since kayley is missing classes why don't I drop Ashton off at his house then take kayley back to the college. Sis you could stay with Ashton and ride back with him to keep him awake and company while driving." Luke says from the front seat.
"That's fine with me if that's what Ash wants." I shrug.
"Yeah that sounds good." Ash agreed.
"What about Mac? Will your parents care that he's with us?"
"No they will be fine. They like dogs too." I nod my head and stare down at my cute puppy.
After another eight hours of driving we were finally pulling up to ashtons parents house. I have to say I'm a little nervous. I have never liked meeting parents.
We pull up to a huge colonial style home. It was beautiful. Ash jumped out of the truck and grabbed me pulling me along up to the house with him. He knocked on the door and then opened it.
"Ashton, you made it." A sweet woman called coming down the stairs. "Hun hurry and come down. Ashton is here."
"Mom this is Nicole. She's my roommate at college. And that's her twin brother and her bestfriend that are still getting out of the truck."
"It's nice to meet you hunny." She said pulling me into a hug. "But since when do they put girls and boys in the same room."
"We tried to complain but they wouldn't change it so we were stuck together." Ashton explains.
She turns to me, "I'm so sorry that you have to put up with my son." She smiles.
"He's actually been keeping me from being bored." I smile back.
"Mom is it alright that we stay for a couple days then drive back."
"Sure. Are you all staying?" She asks.
"Just me and Nic. Luke is taking kayley back since her classes have already started."
"That's perfectly fine. I have dinner on the stove. It will be ready soon."
"Oh, ma'am do you mind if he stays here with us?" I ask pointing down to Mac.
"Sweetie call me Ann and it's not a problem. We all love dogs. It's been awhile since we've had one." I smile at her and nod my head.
"Hey son. I'm in a work call right now. I'll see you two after dinner. It nice to meet you Nicole, I'm Luis." Ash's dad made and appearance at the top of the stairs then left to go back to his work call.
Me and ash went back to the truck and got all of our stuff out. We hugged Luke and Kayley goodbye and waved to them as they left.
We walked back inside and ash took me up to his room to set our stuff down. They didn't have an extra bed so I have to stay in ash's room.
After putting our stuff in his room we went and ate dinner. We played a few rounds of cards with his parents and then went up to his room.
"I have a sister that's a year younger then me but you won't get to see her while we are here. She's at some sports camp for this week." Ash was explaining to me. I just nod my head. I was really tired from all the driving.
"So do you want my bed and I'll sleep on the floor?" Ash asks.
"I'm not letting you sleep on the floor in your own home. Why don't we just put pillows between us and both sleep on your bed. We slept together in the dorm so it doesn't really matter." He nods and takes his shirt off climbing into bed.
I excused myself to change into pjs. I walked into his joined bathroom and shut the door. I put on a white cami with red plaid pants. I washed my face and left the bathroom.

I went and crawled under the blankets. It was really cold in his room and since I was so used to being in a hot room I was shivering. Ash must've felt that I was because he moved the pillows and scooted closer to me.
He scooted until he was up against my back. He wrapped his arms and legs around me. I was engulfed in his warmth. My eyelids couldn't fight any longer and they slowly closed. We fell asleep wrapped around eachother.
