I'm starting my freshman year of college. I'm told I will be roommates with Ashtyn Black. It turns out the college made a mistake and now we have to adjust to living with the opposite gender.
I was never really good at talking to guys. I was a shy...
"Wake up sleepy head." I felt someone rubbing my shoulder. I quickly jumped up and accidentally hit whoever it was in the eye.
"Damn Nic I was trying to be nice and wake you up so you wasn't late for the assembly." I heard ash mumble while he rubbed his eye.
"Shit I'm so sorry. I should've warned you I'm a little jumpy when I wake up. Do you need ice?"
"No." He chuckles.
"What's so funny?" I ask generally confused as to why he's laughing when I just punched him in the eye.
"It's just funny to hear you cuss. It's kinda cute." He chuckles back. Typical all the boys think I'm a little goody to shoes that doesn't cuss, smoke or drink.
"Oh. What time is the assembly?"
"It's in an hour. We have to go over to the main hall." I just nod.
"Do you want to walk over with me?" He asks.
"Actually I'll probably try to drive over so I can run in to town afterwards to pick up some stuff."
"Oh okay. Well then can I ride with you so I don't have to walk alone?" He asks and I can't tell if he's just so lonely he has to ask me to hang with or if he likes me for some odd reason.
"I guess if you want to. I have to go shower and change real quick." I say and grab some clothes out of my closet.
"I'll meet you back in here." He says and heads to the showers.
I grab my bag with my clothes, soap and towels and head to the showers. I honestly hate the communal showers and I've only been here for a day. The water is either extremely hot or freezing cold, there's no in between. Plus when I came in here yesterday some girl was smoking pot in the last shower and another girl was fingering herself.
After I take my cold shower I get dressed. I picked out a white tube too paired with black jeans. I also wore a blue jean jacket and my white converses.

Once I'm completely done I head back to my room and find ash stretched out on his bed scrolling through his Instagram.
"You ready to go and see if I can find a parking spot?" I question. He grabs his wallet and we head out the door.
"I still can't get over your truck. It looks so badass." He says exaggerating.
"It's always been one of my favorites so when I turned 16 my parents bought it for me and then got one for my brother after we argued over it for a week."
"Are your parents rich?" He asks and I chuckle. I get asked this question a lot.
"Not technically. We have money and a pretty good bit but we aren't fully rich." I shrug. It's hard to explain. We aren't like the billionaires that have too much money for their own good and waste it on everything but then again we don't have to watch what we spend.
"So where do you come from? Like where is your home?" Ash asks while we are stuck in a line of cars.
"I came from Texas. My parents own a ranch there."
"Wow I've always wanted to go to a ranch. I'm from Colorado." He said
"Your even farther then I am from this college. What made you choose to go here in Florida?"
"I've always wanted to go to a warm state with a beach. I applied here and when I got the acceptance letter I just knew this was my chance." I nod my head to understand what he's saying.
"I wasn't originally planning to go here but my brother was and my best friend also is going here so I decided to come with them." I tell him as I finally pull into a parking space.
Once I get down out of my truck I spot kayley standing on the side walk. I didn't know she finally had arrived. She seen me too and came running at me. I caught her and hugged her.
"Nikki who's your hot friend here?" She says and gestures to Ash.
"This is Ashton. Ashton this is my best friend Kayley."
"Nice to meet you." Ash shakes her hand and her mouth drops open. She always acts like that around hot guys.
"He's my roommate." I tell her.
"No way. You got paired with a guy. I got paired with some stuck up girl that couldn't wait a night before she had to bring a guy home and fuck him right on the bed beside me." I start rolling in laughter. Kayley doesn't sensor her words. She lets everything out. I look over to ash and see he's trying his best not to cry from laughing so hard.
We all walked in and sat though the assembly. It was basically just rules and boring stuff about our classes and schedules.
After we got out of the assembly I waved by to Kayley. "Do you want me to take you back to the dorm and drop you off?" I ask ash.
"Do you mind if I ride to town with you? I don't really have anything else to do." I just shrug and get in my truck as he climbs in the passenger seat.
Dang I forgot what I had to get when I told him he could come. I don't want him coming with me while I buy tampons. It will be so embarrassing.
"So do you not have any friends here?" I ask curious as to why he's still hanging with me.
"Not really. I've met some guys but I'm more of a one friend kinda guy."
"Oh so I'm your one friend." I question.
"If you want to be. I like you. You remind me of my old friend from back home. She would always hang with the guys and if they did anything to mess with her, she'd beat them up." He said and laughed.
Before I knew it we had pulled into the pharmacy parking lot. I got out hoping ash wouldn't follow but he did. I went and picked up some shoulder tape for when I play volleyball.
"Do you play sports?" Ash asks.
"Yeah. I play volleyball." I start walking towards the tampon and pad section. I quickly grab the box I need and go to the checkout with ash following me around likes he's a lost puppy dog.
I paid for my things and walked back to my truck. I'm glad ash didn't say anything about what I bought. Hopefully he's one of the mature guys who doesn't care about what girls need.
"I'm hungry. Can we stop at that burger place?" Ash says and I turn into the parking lot.
"Hi. Please order when your ready."
"I want the steak burger with american cheese." I say to the screen.
"And I would like the steak burger with american cheese and pickles along with a side of fries." Ash says.
I pull around and ash refused to let me pay. He said I was the one paying gas for my truck so the least he could do was buy my food.
We got our bags of food and took them back to our dorm room. We sat at the little table and ate. I stole a few of ash's fries and he just chuckled and moved them closer to me so I could reach them better.
Once we were done eating we laid on my bed and watched Netflix movies on my laptop for the rest of the evening.
