Part 14: Telling Ash

I decide that I should call Kayley. She can give me good advice as long as she doesn't hate me for getting pregnant. That's a possibility isn't it? I'm pretty sure I want to keep it. I really want to talk to ash. I doubt he's going to want to be a part of the baby's life. But I still need to tell him.

*hey nikki, what's up?*
Is your roommate in?
*no. She's been out since yesterday.*
Can I come over?
*sure. I'll see you in 5.*

I hang up and walk to kayleys dorm. I probably look like a mess since I've been really morning sick. I also have joggers and an oversized shirt with my hair in a messy bun.

I knock on kayleys door and she opens it. "What the hell has happened to you? You look like death. No offense though." She smiles.

"I need to tell you something. But please don't judge."

"Your scaring me Nic." She says with a little bit of panic in her eye.

"I'm pregnant." I blurt out.

"What? Who? How?" She starts throwing out questions.

"I'm pregnant. It has to be ash. We was drunk and stuff happened."

"Oh my god nikki. I'm gonna be an aunt!" She's overly excited.

"Why are you so happy? I'm 19. Ash isn't going to want to raise a baby so I'm going to be a single mom."

"No you won't. I don't think ash is that kind of person. And besides you will have me. Who all have you told?"

"Only you. I just found out yesterday because I've been puking and I passed out when I was with Noah."

"When are you going to tell ash?"

"I need to soon. I need your help. How should I tell him?"

"I would just come out and say it. Don't beat around the bush because the more you think, you will end up chickening out."

"Thank you. It means a lot that you aren't abandoning me." I say with a smile.

"I'd never abandon you. What are you going to do about Noah?" I haven't really given it much thought but I'm going to have to end it with him. I can't be having a baby with a different guy and still date him.

"I'm going to tell him that I just want to be friends and nothing else."

"Okay. Do you need me to go with you when you tell ash?"

"No. I think I need to do it alone. I'll go back right now and do it." If I don't do it now then I might never do it. The longer I have to think about something, the less likely it will happen.

"Okay. Good luck. I'm here for you girly." She says and gives me a hug before sending me out the door.

Now I just have to go in there and tell ash. Tell him that he's going to be a father. Tell him that he will have a human being to be responsible for. There's no way he's going to want to stay and be in his or hers life. He's 19 and has a lot more things to do in his life before kids.

I walk back towards my dorm and I bump into Noah. "Noah. What are you doing here?"

"I came to see you. Want to go on a walk with me?"

"Uhh sure." I guess it will give me a chance to tell him we can only be friends.

We walk towards the park. I pull him to the swings and take a seat. For some reason I love to be on a swing. It's just so relaxing. We sit there for a little bit in silence. "Look Noah, we need to talk." I want to just get this over with.

"Ookay." He says dragging out the o.

"I think we should just be friends. I know we aren't official or anything so it's not like I'm breaking up with you. I really like you but just as a friend. I'm sorry. There's so much going on right now I just can't be in a relationship."

"Hey, it's okay. I understand. I like you too but if you want to just be friends, I'll happily be your friend." I let out a huge sigh of relief. I figured he'd be mad and not want to talk to me anymore.

"Thank you."

"For what?"

"For not getting pissed and leaving me."

"Your a good friend. I'd never leave you."

"Well I kinda got something else to tell you." I'm just going to tell him now. It will be easier. I think.

"The face your making is kinda scaring me. What is it?" Here goes nothing.

"I'm pregnant."

"Did I hear that right?" I nod. "Oh nikki." He says and stands up to hug me.

"Whos the dad?"

"Ash."

"I didn't know you two was anything more than friends." Because we wasn't.

"We wasn't. The night I found out about my aunt, we got really drunk. We woke up the next morning with very little clothes on but we didn't think we did anything. We had to of though because I haven't been with anyone else."

"Oh. I see. It's okay and I'll be here for you with whatever you decide. Does ash know?" I shake my head.

"I was on my way to the dorm to tell him when I ran into you. I guess I should go and tell him now."

"Yeah you should. I'll see you later nikki. Good luck." With that he walks off and I walk back to my dorm.

When I walk in I see ash with a bag of Taco Bell in front of him. "You sharing any of that?" I ask with a laugh.

"There's an extra taco if you want it." He shrugs and pulls it out of the bag. I sit down across from him and start eating the taco. I get half way through before I feel it start coming back up. I run to the trash can and turn away from ash so that hopefully he can't see it. I don't want him to loose his appetite by seeing me puke.

He dropped his food and came over to me to hold my hair back. He let me finished and I washed out my mouth then chewed a piece of gum. "Shouldn't the virus be going away?" I guess nows the time to tell him. I'm going to ruin his life in the next minute.

"It's not a virus." I mumble.

"Then what is it Nic?" Oh he so does not expect what I'm about to tell him. I pull him over to my bed and sit down next to him.

"I'm pregnant." I whisper out.

"What was that? I couldn't hear you."

"I'm p-pregnant." I don't finish the words without crying again. I've cried so much in the past two days. He pulls in into an awkward side hug.

"Is it Noah's?" I shake my head no.

"Me and Noah never did anything."

"Then do you know who's it is?" He doesn't even suspect it could be his. I wish we could remember what happened that night. I nod my head to his question. "Who's?" 

"Yours." His face changes into so many emotions there isn't anyway to read them. There's anger and sadness I can tell for sure.

"W-wh-what?" He mumbles out.

"I haven't had sex with anyone since the Brian thing happened. The only thing I could think of was the night my aunt passed. We got drunk. We woke up naked. I was hoping we didn't do anything but when you took me to the doctor, they confirmed I was pregnant. It has to be yours ash."

He's silent. He probably doesn't believe me. Before I can say anything else to him he gets up and walks out of the dorm.
