My shift ended at 9pm.
I had no intention of going home.So I chipped in with my friends.Who were both interns and residents with me.
Ava Sinclair, Julia Voelkel,Alex Morgan
James Porter.
We walked to Jia'd Restaurant near the hospital. We could not drink alcohol. Yeah number one rule being a doctor is never drinking alcohol.
So we walked into the Restaurant and sat at our regular table number 4. We sat and started talking about how miserable our day was. It seems I was the only one with a dead patient.
Alex said "Haha always the lucky one Hayley. Not everyone sees death nearly everyday like you do".
I retorted back "Yeah, if they have to die, they die after the surgery, at least I don't have to sit up all day long with paperwork."
As soon as I said that my hospital phone started buzzing. It was Chief.
"Dr.Grey I have a extremely special and important case for you. First thing in the morning I want is you to be in my office and not even a single minute late".
The girls were literally pouncing on me to know why the Chief had called me.I exactly repeated the Chief's words to them.I wanted to be there on time so I wished them goodbye. And started walking towards home. Arizona being a small state had advantages like not travelling too far or waiting for a transport.
As I started walking the only thing in my head was that again a special case.Again a special person and again the special dead.
Till I reached home it was like I was screaming to myself saying that I do not want any special case just a normal and a regular one would do.
I opened the poplar door with the key and walked inside. After the hectic day all I wanted was to take a relaxing shower without any thoughts. After taking the shower I came and sat on my bed just then I heard the door open and my roommate, doctor and bestfriend Ava came into the room
"All the best Hayley."
And before leaving she said
"Heyy listen, You don't know what goes on in anyone's life but your owns. So you should not determine it yourself that all the worst case scenario happens only with you and we all should just at times let go of the past."Saying that she left the room. A smile curved into my lips.
And I dozed off into sleep. Knowing that I have to relive yesterday's dream again....
