Fifteen years, so many things have changed and so may things which cannot go back to normal. Today I read Hayley's diary from beginning. God's grace for her photographic memory she wrote the absolute lines told by us in the diary. Then I realized she stopped writing everyday in her diary but wrote only about major incidents from the day she got fired from Phoenix Grace. So I decided to write one last chapter for her so I wrote it in her diary.
Hayley Grey, after she got fired from Phoenix Grace, she got a job in Arizona Hospital, one of the greatest hospitals. Over there she started new and afresh. She worked her ass up to become like her mother. Dr. Medicus and Dr. Parker and Dr.Ross gave her good recommendations and she got the job quickly. After four years she became the Head of Neurosurgery in Arizona Hospital and I became the Head of Cardio.
After a year later, Hayley won the Global Best Invention Award because she successfully got an way to do the intracranial transplant without any person getting gorked or losing their eye sight or getting paralysis something which could had saved Will. She got the award twice because she also found a method where she could remove the tumor without any transplant needed. She was the only doctor who could do the surgery. She named the method as 'Will Method' and the second method 'Grey- Will- Sinclair Method'."
And there is a little part, just few years ago, where your mom was in the verge of losing her license but she went to Chicago and it got fixed. I don't know the whole thing, so I guess now I am officially giving you the permission to read her diaries.
And I won one award and named the method, 'Hannah Method' and this time I got nominated but still don't know the results but if I win it I am going to name it after Hayley.
After Hayley won the award for the second time she started forgetting things, we took her to checkups and yes, she got Alzheimer and now she is in the nursing home, doing well she cannot remember most of things and she sees Will in everybody in the nursing home.I miss her but I cannot help her. I miss her not being there to give me advices or have movie night or her knowing what to say to make the situation right or how to the change someone's decision. She was a better surgeon than even her mother, generations to come will be using her methods or new neurosurgery techniques.
After Will, she changed she became a better person but got strict that is why till date her new interns called her 'The Medusa'.
One more thing which bothered me was that your mother did not make any decisions without listing down the pros and cons so I was surprised when she told Will 'yes' to getting married. So when she got Alzheimer, I met her doctor and asked him this question and he said that that was an early onset of Alzheimer. So I want you and your sister, Meredith to check the Alzheimer gene at least once in two years.
And speaking of interns Sarah is one of the best ortho surgeon, Sia took cardio and now works for me, Jake is a plastic surgeon and Neal took general surgery and now works in Boston. And there was this one more intern of mine Keilin Van , she became Hayley's protege and now handles Hayley's job and she is damn good at it.
All of her interns and co-workers got many new things to learn. And the whole medic society is proud of her and her methods, she saved a man who almost died , a woman who had four tumors in her brain. She is not only just a human but the Neuro Goddess.
Yes truly, your mother became what she desired to be, a successful surgeon, an amazing mother and a wonderful person.Julia is now working to help people with FoP, fibrodyplasia ossificans progressiva and has found a treatment for IL3. Everyone is doing great.
Dr.Medicus just retired and goes to see Hayley almost everyday , he was like her mentor, Dr. Ross takes his cases to her and asks her to solve them when she is lucid. So a message to you Will, you have nothing to worry about, your mother has a great extensive family and an amazing support system. So you have got nothing to worry about, as your mother said you can become anything you want to be and don't let the world stop you. And take care of your sister,Meredith. Your mother was loved and so were you both.
And remember your mom's quote,' Sometime the future changes quickly and completely, and we are only left with the choice of what to do next. We can choose to be afraid of it, to stand there trembling, not moving, assuming the worst that can happen or we step forward into the unknown and assume it will be brilliant.
So, Happy Birthday Will Jackson Grey.
