The Choice

Chapter 15

For the first time in many days,me and Ava woke up early and met at the dinner table for our breakfast.I grabbed the box of cereal and milk while Ava opened the fridge an took out last night's pepperoni pizza.

I rolled my eyes,"You are going to be the attending of cardiothoracic and you are eating left over pizza which contains fat and high level of cholesterol "

"OMG you are such a breakfast killer." sighed Ava

"Ad is everything okay with Julia?She has become quite and goddamn mean."

"Hmmmm. Are you referring to the fact that she said that I would not pass the psych evaluation?"

"Yes, well never mind.We are late, hurry up." She yelled from the shoe rack taking out her sneakers.
We reached the hospital and there was Alex.
"Yo dude, so what cases do you have today?"

"Nothing much, I will let my interns do that. I have Will Grayson with whom I have to be the whole day."
Alex replied sharply, " Oh the whole day with that dud?"

"Huh? Try living with an incurable disease then we will see who is a dud."
Alex scoffed and left the nurses table with his charts.

"Bye Ava."
Ava waved by bye while speaking to her mom.
I turned around to see my interns standing together an waiting for me.
I walked up to them as commanded as usual while handing them their files,
"Sia take care of my post-ops. Jake pre-ops , Sarah colostomy solo surgery and Neal appendectomy solo surgery. And do not page me today."
All of them nodded and walked out to their own paths.

U walked to Will's room.
He was having breakfast.
"Heyy."

He replied cheerful, "Good morning."
"So ready for meditation and workout??"

"Yeah obviously, I will be getting out of this bed after so many days."

"I am sorry that I did not visit you from so many days."

"It is okay." He replied calmly.

"So listen, the IV bag will be there all the time attached to the stand to keep you hydrated and every day your number of hours will increase, today it is only one hour.And we can do anything if not meditating and work out."

He replied happily,"Okay, can we read some novels and and paint?"

"Yeah sure."

His face became glum before asking,"And you will be there with me through out every session right?"

"Yes, I will be there." And his the whole lighting up the room type smile shone again.

"And nurse Lainie will also be there."

"Okay, so can we get going?" He replied excitedly like a little kid going out to a park after many years.

We crossed the hall and walked past the database centre and to the cafeteria we took two veg burgers and a kool aid and jellos on the tray and started walking towards the library.

"How come does a hospital have a Library?" He asked.

"Well, this hospital is the best teaching hospital in the west coast and it has a high rate of patient care for cancers and tumours and any non curable treatments so it kinda has all kinds of entertainment."

"And did we just take burger for breakfast, I mean you are a doctor and not giving the disapproval look that all the kid's nannies usually give."
We started laughing.

Thinking about the fact that I had just given the look to Ava during breakfast this same morning.

"So which book do you want to read?"
He replied," Lightning sky" And took the book from the middle row shelf, "And what about you?"

"Well I was thinking something of John Green" and took the book Paper Towns from the lower shelves.

We took the books and sat on the bench near the window which faced the mountain side. The view was always incredible and breathe taking. The pink and red clouds formed this unique color.
And we started reading and then he looked up from his book
And his eyes looked golden starling as the setting sun fell upon his face. And he was telling something and I coundn't hear it.
I snapped myself from my internal commentary and heard him say, " So what did..............
I instantly asked," What?"

He sighed, " I know not your mistake that the scenery is so beautiful.."

"Well so am I." I said laughing but he did not laugh with the same expression he told.

"Well yes, but you are much more beautiful than any of these scenery."

I flustered and and looked down and then he suddenly coughed an I looked up and saw that he was running low on IV but Lainie was already there and was changing it. An I felt a pang of something burning in my chest but I decided to ignore it.
After Lainie changed it.

He asked his question,"So do you doctor's attend seminar right? So tell me any of the eye catching story as I just realized that knowing real life stories are better than any novels."

I smiled.
