Chapter 9

Hadiza's Pov

   " Uwa I have noticed you are always looking bothered and it seems something is wrong that you are not telling me.Some time ago,You said you forgot something and I asked what,you didnt answer me and the same thing happened yesterday that I asked for what you were searching for...you just told me to go to bed".

"You are a wise one my daughter and I hope you continue to grow in wisdom.The thing is i applied for a loan with my only gold chain and I am yet to receive the money and again the money I saved up is barely enough. About what I was searching for ehn it is the address of my sister Aminat that stays in Lagos that I was hoping you could stay with...I have been looking for it and i kept it in this particular bag and it is nowhere to be found",my mother said.

    "Ahnahn you should have told me and i would have understood.How does this paper look like,I might have happened to see it somewhere.

"It is more of like a carton",she said.

   "A carton?? There was a time when I was arranging the room that something like that fell out from where you keep your bags and I didnt know it was useful but I kept it all the same".

  "You saw it and kept it!!!!!,ahh Hadiza you don't know how happy I am right now...bring it out and let me see if it's the one",she said.

   "Hmmn let me check my school bag,this is it..I stretched the carton to her to check it.

"Ahh Allah be praised,you don't know hard I looked for this thing oo and it is already fading..can you write out the words you see there out on another paper and keep it well",she said to me.

  "Why do you want to take a loan with your only expensive jewelry Uwa?I can make do with the one you saved up and moreover I will look for work immediately I get to Lagos.I am thinking you should collect it back".

  "I will my daughter and you should ask Hauwa if she's still going with you",she said.

"When next I see her I will tell her because she hasn't spoken about it in a while.This is the address you asked me to write out",i stretched to her.

"You have done well and you will be able to understand the words better instead of straining your eyes...I want to sleep now so make sure you close all the doors and put off the light Hadiza",she said.

Aishat's Pov
   
    I had a very bad dream that my late husband appeared to me saying "they want her and she doesn't belong to them" that night. I woke up very late the next morning which was unlike me.
"Hadiza!".

"Yes uwa,she replied.

   "I haven't seen Hauwa in a while,are you people fighting?"

I explained my dream to her and what she thought about it because I haven't seen him in my dream in a long time unlike when he first died that I was mourning him.

  "No oo uwa..I and Hauwa are not fighting.I stopped by her house yesterday when I was coming back and she already explained it is because of my work that I haven't seen her",she said.

  " Ok because her mother greeted me on your success yesterday. Since you woke up early,have you prepared   what we can eat?",I asked her.

   "Yes Uwa".
Not up to an hour that I was done talking to Hadiza.A knock on the door shook me from my thoughts.

"Who is there",I asked?

"Musa",the man answered from the other end.I ran inside to tell Hadiza not to come out of the room until I was done with the visitor  in the living room..

I opened the door to my husband's brother that I haven't seen since my husband died.

"Ina kwana",I greeted him.

"Uhhn uhnn",he answered.

"What brings you here",I asked him.

"What do you mean by what brought me here woman!!! I can enter this place anytime I like,did you bring this house from your father's house or have you forgotten this place belongs to my brother"?he shouted at me.

  "I am sorry if I offended you by my words,it is because I haven't seen you in a long time...that's why I asked you".

   "Well that is your problem..where is your daughter?,he said.

"She's not around..any problem?"

"Woman why do you ask stupid questions?What brought me here exactly is that my brother who is your late husband has bethroted her to a man before he died",he said.

"My husband told me nothing of such and if this is your way of ruining my daughter's life...it will never happen because I know it is because of what you want to gain that you are doing this and I won't accept it.A child that you don't know how she grew up till now is who you are asking of. I stood up in anger and showed him the way out".

"Are you accusing me of greed,whatever you just said is for you and not me..I will be back in just 2 weeks to give her to whom she belongs to"..he said and left.

"Ehh this is trouble".I said out loud.
