Hadiza's Pov
My mother didnt say anything to me when she got back from the family house. The air in the house was very tense.I was trying my best not to do anything she won't like but at the same I needed to talk to her.
"Hadiza,come here and take a seat",she said.
Ok Uwa.
"Hadiza, she called thrice despite the fact that I was sitting right in front of her.
Yes uwa.
"How many times did I call you?she asked.
Three times Uwa.
"Where I went didnt turn out well and it turned into a fight",she said as she narrated what transpired between she and my uncles.
"You fought?I have known you all my life and you never quarelled with anyone Uwa".
"No mother would open her eyes and allow her child's life get destroyed Hadiza".
"What are we going to do now that they have refused to listen to you?"
"You know what is going to happen is that you are traveling to Lagos tomorrow morning as early as possible and I will make it look like you went missing because now that I confronted them, they will want to move faster".
"Ahh Uwa Is that not dangerous and I am not even prepared at all.We dont have even have enough money and I still want to spend more time with you.."
"Hadiza,I understand but there is no time for all of that and if we decide to save up till we have enough,it will end up being a waste".
I burst into tears at the thoughts of leaving my mother,my bestfriend without saying bye to her.
"Hadiza you dont have to cry and I will explain to Hauwa when the time comes",my mother said trying to hold her tears back.
So I leave for Lagos alone tomorrow.sighs
I was supposed to sleep early because my journey into a new life starts tomorrow but I just kept turning and turning for more than 200 times.
I slept for hours that seemed like minutes until my mother woke me up around 4am to get ready.
I already packed my bags since the night before, before going to bed.
"Hadiza make sure you pack only the necessary things and not too much and I already tied the money inside your rainbow skirt so you don't lose it".
"Thank you Uwa",I said sadly.
"I can go with you but it will make it obvious that we ran away and it won't speak well of me..don't worry since the sun is not out yet,I will follow you to the park and check the bus you want to enter".
"But Uwa...I am worried about you".
"I know dont ever be.Just don't forget the main reason you are going there and pray always...I will be praying for you too and don't come back until you are made Hadiza",she said seriously.
"I wont forget all you told me before and now Uwa".
We walked as fast our legs could in the dark checking left and right to see if anyone knew us on the way.
As we got to the park,it was still very scanty but only few buses were already loading their passengers.
I entered the second bus and told my mother to be on her way but she insisted."Hadiza make sure you buy something you can eat and last you for hours on the road and don't ever worry about me",she said already crying.
"Bye Uwa,I will be back I promise and it will be in a short time".
My mother already in tears just said bye and left when the bus was about to take off.
I was in tears looking back at those I left behind and I didnt know it was going to be this hard leaving my life in the north behind.
"Are you ok?",a young man beside me asked when he noticed I was wiping my tears.
"Yes I am fine thank you".
The bus stopped after we got outside Kano and it's because of the sign I knew we left Kano behind.Passengers stopped to buy food and other things among.I just bought rice and stew which tasted quite different.
"Enter!Enter!",the driver shouted to the passengers as he ignited the engine.
We continued our journey again...
