CHAPTER 16

Hadiza's Pov

    I was feeling better after I ate.I was treated after I filled a form to open a file in the hospital.

"How is your waist pain",the doctor asked after like an hour that I used my drugs.

I am relieved a little bit.

"Alright it will go down gradually until you dont feel it anymore and you might feel dizziness due to the drugs you used but you don't have to panic",he said assuringly.

Thank you Doctor.

"You are welcome".

   As it got much darker outside,I drifted asleep.I dreamt about my mother and Hauwa.
I woke up around 10am the next morning.

A nurse came in to check my temperature and blood pressure.

Nurse,I called after her as she was about walking out the door.

"Yes".

  Please is Aminu awake?I asked.

"Aminu...Ohh the other patient in Ward 4.He is awake too but you cant see him right now",she said.

Ok thank you.My mind is at rest now.

"The man that brought you last night has being waiting in the reception since 8am but since you were still asleep,he wasnt allowed in.

Please let him come inside.

"No problem".

Haaa this man really kept his word to come back here,that's what I was thinking before he came in.

Good morning Sir,I greeted as he took a seat.

"Good morning Hadiza..I can see you are better now".

  Yes I am,I said smiling sheepishly.
I never told him my name hmmn..it must be from the form maybe,the thought crossed my mind.

"I got your name when you were filling the form,he spoke up suddenly.

I thought so too,I replied honestly.

"Have you ever been to Lagos?",he asked.

No this is the first time sir.

"Alright if you are discharged today maybe we can go together since Lagos is not far from here".

I would really appreciate it,I said looking down.

"No problem as long as you have an address".

I have an address sir,my aunt stays where I am going to.

"I will go and see the Doctor now".

Can I go with you to see him and check Aminu?

"Are you sure you will be able to walk well",he asked with care.

I can walk very well now..I don't feel any pain.I think the Doctor gave me pain reliever.

Aminu was sitting on the bed when I entered into his ward.

"Hadiza ,How are you?",he spoke up first.

I should be asking you...Are you ok?I was really scared yesterday seeing you like that.

"You didnt have to be scared..I am fine now and as you can see I am as strong as a bull,I heard from the nurses that you were here  but they didnt allow me to see you because they thought I wasn't fit to walk".

I laughed at the way he joked about being strong.

I would have been angry if they allowed you to come and see me the way you were in this kind of state.

"But I am fine walahi,Who is that?",he asked in a silent voice as he took notice of Mr Shemiu standing by the door.

Ohh Mr Shemiu,he is the good samaritan.

I narrated everything that happened from how he helped us out of the bus and how he stopped the bleeding and all that happened after till now to Aminu.

"Haa Hadiza and you couldn't tell me immediately you entered so I can express my gratitude to him".

I was going to tell you everything,I am sorry.

"It's fine,please let me talk to him".

I went over to Mr Shemiu to explain that Aminu wanted to thank him so he followed me and I gave him my chair to seat.

"Good morning Mr Shemiu,Hadiza told me what happened and I want to say I am really grateful for all what you did and Allah Shekinah,Allah Rahman be with you Insha Allah",Aminu said.

"Good morning Aminu and it is nothing to me because I am just saving citizens like me and moreover it is my job to do so",Mr Shemiu replied after Aminu said all he had to say.

I doubt you will be discharged today and Mr Shemiu offered to drop me off in Lagos because that is his destination but I don't want to leave you here,I said to Aminu in a sad tone.

"I understand that but you can't continue staying here with me..Once I am very ok,i will be on my way to Lagos also so you can go don't worry.I will give you my address so you can come looking for me anytime".

"Ok then..we might be leaving anytime soon so we can get to Lagos early",Mr Shemiu said.

I already felt tears dropping as I waved goodbye to Aminu.

"It was really nice meeting you Hadiza",Aminu said as I stood up.

And me too.
