Chapter 15

Hadiza's Pov

     I was out for a very long time because it was already night when the incident happened and by the time my eyes opened it was afternoon.

"Aminu!!Aminu!!",I called him but then I noticed he had already hit his head on something hard because he was bleeding profusely.

I was also stuck in the middle and couldnt get out of the bus. It seems like some people traveling in other buses had already come out to see what happened because they were talking near the bus.

I noticed Aminu moved his hand.

"Aminu!can you hear me?"

He just nodded his head.

"We have to get out of here before it gets too late and I think we are already closer to Lagos",I said to him.

"Help!!Help!!", I banged on the glass window as I called out for assistance.

People were afraid to come near the vehicle because they thought we were all dead.

Only one man came nearer to help out and others joined.

"Are you stuck",he asked.

"No I just cant move well".

"Alright give me your hand or is he alive too?,he asked referring to Aminu.

"Yes he is but he is bleeding".

He helped us get out through the window..stopped Aminu's bleeding.

I got my bag out and Aminu's bag because he wasnt too ok.The man who I later realized was an officer put a call through to FRSC.We waited for them to arrive and rescue those in the buses or let me say their bodies.

Memories from inside the bus played in my head because just a day before,I was sitting with the same people and I felt guilty because maybe they wouldn't have died if I didnt ask Aminu to wake the driver or maybe they would have just robbed us and let us be on our way.

"Why are you crying",the officer asked.

I explained to him what happened and I didnt even realize I was crying before he asked me.

"Don't blame yourself,it is no one's fault that they died..it could be their fate",he said.

"Thank you sir but I can't help but feel that way.Is he going to be ok?",I asked pointing at Aminu that was on a stretcher.

"As long as the bleeding stopped hmmn I dont think there should be any problem.He just needs to be treated",he said assuringly.

He was so nice to me and I dont want him to die too,I said still in tears.

"You dont have to worry about that and are you going to go back to Kano or you will continue your journey".

"I will continue my journey tomorrow but I dont have anywhere to stay..maybe I will stay by Aminu till he is well enough".

"With what happened,I dont think I can make it to lagos today so I will stay in an hotel and you can go to the hospital and stay with Aminu.I will check on you before I leave for my journey tomorrow".

"Thanks for your help".

"It is nothing and I am just serving the nation by protecting citizens .I will drop you at the hospital before going to the hotel".

Throughout the drive,I just kept wondering how my mother and Hauwa would have felt if news of my death reached them...ahh that will be very terrible.
Amidst all that happened.Alhamdullilahi

We were trailing at the back of the ambulance as we followed them to the hospital for him to drop me off.

At some point I got scared because I started thinking what if the man takes another route and kidnaps me to an unknown place but as we drew nearer to the hospital,my fear reduced.

"Thank you for dropping me off",I said as I felt a sharp pain in my waist when I alighted.

"What is the matter",he asked because he saw the look on my face.

I just said I was fine trying to pretend ,but he quickly got down from his peugout car to check my waist that I held.

It appeared that I was bruised by glass pieces but I didnt take notice because I felt it was just a normal pain.

"Ahhahh do you want to kill yourself..Nurse!!",he asked before calling a nurse to attend to me.

He assisted the nurse in bringing me inside the ward.
As we were going in,my belly began to rumble which we all knew what it meant.

"Let me get you food from the hospital cafeteria",he said without asking.

"You don't have to",I said after him but he was long gone.

Hmmn this man is a God-sent.
