A/N:

Sequel to Silence

Hah, I Stan that alliteration 😉

Pretty long, word count is roughly 3,370

But yeah, not as bad, but still an emotional rollercoaster: viewer discretion advised

Thoughts and emotions brewed in unison with the coffee at Sugar & Spice Cafe.

It was nearing midnight and business was slow. A rather large man sat by the window, as cookie crumbs litterted the table he occupied, and coffee stained his white polo. Another man, around the age of 25, typed away at his laptop, desperate to finish his paperwork before his boss contemplated firing him again. His coffee sat untouched, steam erupting from the top and wafted past his nose. Adjacent to him, a middle aged woman sat, scolding an embarrassed waitress, who was only trying to do her job. Apparently the woman asked for a blueberry scone, and received a scone with one too many blueberries.

There was another girl. She was young and full of energy. Granted, it could've been the six espresso shots she had drank earlier. School work and pages and pages of notes were scattered across the table, highlighters and pens rolled around, and her nose was deep in an English textbook. But she couldn't focus. Maybe it was because the caffeine was making her jumpy. Or maybe it was because her brain just couldn't process the difficulties of the English language, let alone Shakspeare's greatest works. But maybe it was because her mind was so focused on the small, black screen that lay beside her. Her green eyes darted anxiously at it every few seconds, hoping for the blue lights to burn through with a message from him.

She continued to refresh her screen and was too preoccupied to notice that someone had walked through the door.

It was another girl around her age, maybe a bit older. She looked like sunshine, but she walked like thunder.

The windows to her soul were clouded with rain and the storm rolled down her tired face.

A dark blue hood covered her disheveled brown hair and sorrow radiated off of her body. Her mind spun with darkness and her thoughts raced with the raging wind outside the cafe and the flashes of disconsolate lightning inside her heart.

The green eyed girl looked up from her melancholy trance to meet the two sorrowful orbs of chocolate honey.

But as quickly as green met brown, the faster the dark brunette looked away.

She walked across the small interior and sat down at a different booth. She stared out the window, watching as the wind blew away the leaves, wishing it could blow away her problems too.

The green eyed girl watched her carefully, chewing at the end of her pencil. She set down her notebook and debated whether or not she should walk over and ask the girl what was wrong, knowing that it would be stupid to ask her if she was okay, having it be obvious that she was nowhere near okay.

She decided to forget about her phone, knowing that she would never get the text she expected, and her mind took a spontaneous route. She stood up abruptly and walked over to the saddened girl. There was a fire in her heart, a pep in her step, and sunshine in her smile.

"Hey." she whispered. But the brown eyed girl remained lost in her overwhelming thoughts. "Hey." she said again, this time a little louder. "I'm Dani."

"What do you want?" the girl asked sternly, her head still facing out the window.

"The question is, what do you want?" Dani fired back, taking a seat across from her.

"What do you mean?" she asked, this time facing the tenacious girl.

"Well, you're obviously upset." Dani stated. "You wanna talk about it?"
