Twenty Nine

After Coney Island, you and the gang stayed one more night before heading home early the next morning. The drive home was quiet because of how tired everyone was. You were asleep on Peter for most of it. Peter was asleep as well using his squid hat as a pillow.

Eventually, everyone was dropped off and it was just you and Tony. Finally heading home.

"So, did you have fun yesterday?" Tony asked as you looked out the window.

A smile crept across your face as you remembered the events, "Yeah." After a bit of silence, you finally asked how his day went with Pepper.

"It was good. We had a lot of fun, talked things out a bit, and now I guess you could say we're dating."

"Really?! That's great!" you said looking over at him. The smile on his face showed he was just as excited as you about the news.

"And I asked her to prom."

"You what?"

"What should I not have?"

"No! That's great! I just forgot prom is so close. Forgot how close the end of the year is."

"Yeah," Tony said, a hint of sadness in his voice. "But we'll make every last second count."

"Hell yeah, we will."

Time passed and the end of the year was now closer than ever. Prom was this coming weekend followed by two more weeks of school, then graduation, then summer. The excitement for the end of the year was evident in all students. Especially the seniors.

You were walking through the school with Wanda discussing your prom dresses (or suit, you do you fam). Wanda described her red flowy dress that you knew she'd look absolutely gorgeous in.

As you began talking about yours a certain someone swooped in interrupting you.

"What're you guys talking about?" Peter asked slipping his hand into yours.

"Just prom."

"Oh, that's actually great! Because, well, Vis and I wanted to ask you guys something."

"Okay, what do you want to ask?"

"Well, you see, aha," he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "We were kinda wondering if we could wear our squid-?"

"No, absolutely not," Wanda cut off as you erupted in laughter.

Peter stuck out his bottom lip in a pout, "Aw man."

"I never said you couldn't," Wanda shrugged.

His eyes widened at her comment, looking at you with his big puppy eyes.

You turned away from him, knowing you'd give in if he continued to look at you like that. "I don't know, I'll have to think about it."

"Please? Scott is gonna wear his."

"When did Scott get a squid hat?"

"I dunno, like seconds before we left?"

"Did he ask Hope about it?" you asked.

"Probably not," Peter said breaking into a grin.

You chuckled, "Yeah, probably."

The three of you turned into a new hallway, stopping at the sight in front of you.

Someone made a giant slip-n-slide inside the school.

Blue tarps covered the entire floor of the hall leading clear out the door. Water and bubbles ran down it as multiple students went sliding down and out of the school. Most were fully clothed but some were in swimsuits as if they knew this was going to go down.
