When you went back to school after your hectic weekend you thought that maybe everything would be going back to normal. Or at least start to. But you were wrong.
The chaos began in your history class. Of course, it was in history. It felt like all your stresses always started in Mr. Lee's class.
The second you walked into the classroom you could sense that something was different. You'd actually be doing something in the class instead of listening to one of Mr. Lee's lectures. How dare he make you do actual work?
"Good afternoon class. Today we'll be doing something a little different," Mr. Lee said as he started the class. "You're going to get into groups of four and from there work together to make a poster of information on one of the wars we've learned about so far. You'll pick your groups, take one of these packets and get to work."
The class stared back blankly at him. Most not listening.
"Before you ask, you can pick your groups. But no, they can't be students from another class or from a different period."
Some students grumbled. You literally didn't care. You knew that no matter who was in your group the project would be shit and hell to make.
"Now get to work. I'll be at my desk if you have any questions."
Students stood up and worked their way through the room. Getting into groups and clumping desks together to work at.
Turning your head you looked at Shuri. She gave you thumbs up and moved to your desk.
"Now we just need two others. Oh, there's some," she said, pointing behind you.
"Please tell me it's not-" you began. But you stopped abruptly when you saw who she pointed to was exactly who you didn't want to work with. Peter and Loki.
You were fine working with Loki. But how were you supposed to work with Peter when he didn't even acknowledge you?
Shuri waved them over, ignoring your pleading face and whispered begs. She could really be the worst sometimes.
"Maybe this will help you resolve your problem," she whispered to you.
"Or make it worse," you hissed.
As the boys sat down in the desks closest to you, you slumped in your seat. You gave them a bit of a wave but made no eye contact. Peter and Shuri went on to discuss project plans as you and Loki sat sulking.
"So first we should decide which war we're doing the project on," Peter started.
"How about World War II," you said blandly, focusing hard on the paper in front of you.
Peter almost looked at you but directed his face toward Shuri instead, "No. Everyone will be doing World War II, we should do something different."
"Does that really matter?" you muttered, mostly to yourself.
Because of the rising tension, Loki took a sudden interest in what was happening. He leaned forward his hands pressed together in a prayer position that hovered over his mouth.
"Okay!" Shuri said loudly to break the awkwardness. "How about the Civil War?"
"Yeah, that's fine," Peter said as he leaned back in his seat, not wanting to argue anymore.
You nodded. Loki went back to his sulking, the rest of you taking it as a yes from him.
You went on from there, gathering the information you needed to create a poster. The three of you, and sometimes Loki went through your textbook and old worksheets to find what you wanted. Before you knew it you had all the information you needed, plus some extra details.
