Once Tony pulled into a parking spot in front of the school you began to mentally groan. You were in no way ready for this, you didn't want to be back at this shit hole. You watched familiar faces walking around the school, meeting with their friends, shaking hands or exchanging hugs.
Slowly you lowered your seat and groaned as it went down. Tony gave you a glance then stepped out of the car, "Lock the doors when you're done with your mental break down."
You gave him a thumbs up and he shut the door.
Almost seconds later you heard a knock on the window. You opened one eye to see your friend Wanda.
"You good?" she asked in her thick accent.
Wanda and her brother, Pietro lived in Sokovia for most of their youth but now lived here. Even after all the years they had lived in America they still had a strong accent.
"I'm good, just having a bit of a crisis."
She opened the door and pulled you up. You finally gave in and got out of the car and grabbed your backpack. As you closed the door you swung your backpack onto your arm. Wanda began to walk toward the school and you followed closely behind, fixing your backpack as you went.
"So where's the speedster?" you asked.
"I honestly have no idea. Sped away I guess."
You smiled but it faded away the second you reached the door.
"I already hate this year."
"At least wait until the end of the day to judge it."
You gave her a look then parted ways to find your locker. Once you found it and opened it you realized you didn't exactly need it yet. There was nothing for you to put in it. So you slammed it shut, but before you could turn around there was a tap on your shoulder. You jumped around to find your best friend.
"Shuri!" you said happily, wrapping your arms around her.
"Calm down, you saw me like a week ago."
"Sorry, I'm not totally sure why I did that."
You and Shuri met only the year before but you quickly became best friends. The start of your friendship began when you were forced to do a group project. One of the other girls in the group was talking to Shuri and said, "I like your accent! Where exactly are you from?"
Shuri replied in a voice deeper than her own saying, "I'm Liberian."
Before anyone could even react you whispered back, "Oh, my bad. I like ya accent, where you from?"
You both began laughing and she gave you a high five. The girl who asked stared at you both in confusion making you both laugh harder. You began talking more and became best friends by the end of class.
The bell rang so you and Shuri began to trudge to your first period of the day.
"You know, I still don't get why you go to school. Like I know this school is for like gifted people and whatever but you could totally be in college right now."
"We've been over this before," Shuri said. "My parents know I don't need to be in school but they want me to experience high school and be surrounded by people my age.
"Ew," was all you had to say.
"I know," you both walked on for a bit more until she reached her first class.
Once you reached your first class you saw your somewhat of a friend Loki sulking in the back of the classroom. Loki was the dramatic emo in your grade, you enjoyed hanging out with him but you had no idea if he actually liked you. You mostly knew him because his older brother was friends with Tony.
