I was back at my office after I left Lisa alone at the café. I don't know why I felt sad after she said goodbye to me, it's not that I'm hoping for her to stop me from leaving. Okay, I kind of did, but whatever, she didn't stop me, so I can't do anything about it now.

This day should be a great one because I finally got promoted after the hard work I did as a general surgeon. Before Lisa got here, me and Rosé were planning to celebrate my promotion over dinner. She said that it's her treat, and I should not decline her because it will also serve as her present for me.

I'm grateful for that because, normally, I don't celebrate anything, for me, it's just a waste of time. I already called my mom so that she could join us and celebrate with us, and also because I missed her.

Before I got lost in my thoughts again, someone knocked on the door. I told the person to come in, and that's when I saw Jisoo peeking her head before she got inside. I arch my eyebrows at her action.

"Why are you peeking like a pervert?" I said to her questionably, and she just shrugged.

"I thought you had some guests here," she said simply, and she took a seat in front of my desk, putting her arms on the table with her hand's clasps together while looking at me curiously.

"Why would someone be here with me? And can you stop looking at me like that? You're being creepy," I said to her, but she didn't listen and continued looking at me weirdly.

"Have you talked to her?" Jisoo asks.

"What are you talking about?" I replied innocently, and I occupied myself with the stack of papers beside my desk.

"Oh, come on, Jen, stop acting like you didn't know. Lisa came here to see you, so don't lie to me, you can't hide it because I'm the one who brought her here a while ago," Jisoo said while folding her arms on her chest.

I groan because I have no choice but to tell her what happened. I lean back to my chair and place my hands on my lap, looking down.

"We already talked. We went to the café across the street, she said she had something to say to me, so we talked a little, and that's it," I said honestly.

"What do you mean that's it? Tell me what exactly happened and why are you here already when you should still be with her right now. It's only been 30 minutes since I saw you guys leaving. That's why when I saw you entering the hospital a while ago, I immediately finished my round so that I can check on you," my best friend said, and I can't help but to sigh.

"I guess things didn't work as I thought they would." I chuckled sadly. I heard Jisoo heaving a sigh.

"What happened this time?" Jisoo asks hopefully, she surely wants to know.

"I think I'm not yet ready, Chu," I said, looking at my hands on my lap.

"Is it because of that reason again? That Lisa's a soldier? She reminded you of your dad, isn't it?" she stated, and I slowly nodded, my head still looking down. She really knows me well.

I remain silent. Jisoo then scoots her chair while she clasps her arms on my desk.

"Look, Jen, whatever happened to your dad in the past was still mysterious to you and to us also. We both know that you're not completely over it, but we can see you're working with it, and that's good. I just wanted to say that the past is past and it has nothing to do with Lisa and your building relationship with her."

"I know that, Chu. It's just not that simple for me. I mean, maybe I just want some closure, you know," I replied, then I hid my face in my hands, sighing deeply.
