"Jen, if you open up this patient there's no turning back," Jisoo said seriously as they gather around the operating room.

"I understand that," Jennie replied, her eyes darting from one team member to another, searching for their support.

"But we don't have the luxury of time. If I take my hands off this patient now, it'll be too late." Determination flickered in her gaze, revealing the fierce resolve that lay beneath the surface.

As the countdown to surgery loomed, the team held their breath, knowing that the next decision would change everything.

...

"Let's begin... Mes (Scalpel)."

Yeri then handed the tool to Jennie .

"If you change your mind Dr. Kim, you-" Namjoom said but Jennie cut him off as she caught something on the patient's body.

"Look at this..." she said, her brow furrowing in concentration as she examined a scar just beneath the patient's ribs.

The other doctors leaned in, their expressions shifting from focused anticipation to puzzled curiosity as they studied the mark.

"It's a large subcostal incision, isn't it?" Jennie asked, her finger tracing the edge of the scar, seeking answers in its lines.

The room fell silent, the weight of her observation sinking in as they all contemplated its implications.

(subcostal incision- Incision of the external oblique muscle of the abdomen in direction of the muscle fibers. The rectus muscle is cut with electrocautery.)

"But there's no record of an operation in his chart," Rosé said, her gaze shifting to Jennie, concern etched on her face.

"I know..." Jennie paused, gathering her thoughts. "You can't trust anything without seeing it with your own eyes."

"Y-yeah... that's why this operation is dangerous, sunbae," Lee Jong Suk replied, his voice shaky. He glanced at the patient, then back to Jennie. "It's dangerous for us, for the patient, and even for the soldiers that are outside."

"If I stop now because it's dangerous, this patient will die. As doctors, we really don't have any choice in that matter. I know you all understand that," Jennie asserted, her tone serious, as she steeled herself for what lay ahead.

Deep down, Jennie felt the weight of her own nerves. She could sense the anxiety radiating from her team, yet they didn't have enough time to dwell on their fears.

Despite the daunting nature of the surgery, Jennie was resolute. She believed in their skills, in their ability to work as a cohesive unit. Together, they could overcome anything.
