Sitting down with a glass of wine, you pulled your knees to your chest and listened out for the annoying sound that is FaceTime airing through your laptops speakers.
You distastefully swirled the liquid around in your oval shaped glass as you waited before sipping the poisonous liquor with a sour expression.
You usually didn't drink, but whenever your birthday came around you would do whatever it takes to try and pass the time on a more happy note... or rather on a note you wouldn't remember the next morning.
You didn't like to celebrate the day which isn't that abnormal considering they're millions of people out there who also probably didn't like to celebrate their birthdays, but according to your family and Rin - not celebrating your birthday was a sin.
You hated it and what's worse was that you hated that you hated it.
You used to enjoy your birthday but ever since him, your birthdays just became a reminder of how miserable your life choices had become.
Luckily, you didn't spiral for too long when seconds later your mother's voice blessed your ears.
"Hi sweetheart! How are you enjoying the trip so far? I saw the photo you sent, you two are so cute!" She rushed down the line.
You cleared your throat before taking another huge sip of your alcoholic beverage, "It's great! I'm still a little tired but the place is stunning." You replied, trying to ignore the Jungkook subject.
Smiling like the Cheshire Cat at your response, your mother cooed, "Aw that's great sweetie! But where's Jungkook?"
You flinched at his name, "He's busy preparing a romantic meal." You uttered fake enthusiastically as you gestured to your glass of wine as 'proof'.
Your mother gushed at the news, "Aww that's so lovely." She sighed hopelessly, "After all this time I'm glad you've found someone. I know you don't usually enjoy your birthday because... of what happened but you shouldn't let him ruin your day." She instructed.
Nodding as you felt your heart sink, you forced a smile onto your face for the sake of your mother, "Thank you." Was all you managed to say.
"Erm, I have to go now. Jungkook's calling me." You lied, feeling tears pool in your eyes.
Clapping, your mother shooed you, "Ok, go! I love you."
Humming a quiet "I love you too", you quickly shut your laptop screen before bursting into a flood of tears.
It wasn't long until your whimpers were the only thing breaking the silence and the lonesome feeling you had grown so accustomed to returned.
You were immediately reminded yet again of something you hated to admit.
You were alone. Still.
"Y/N?!" Jungkook called from behind your door, making you jump and spill your wine.
Cursing, you picked up your glass and wiped away your tears before opening the door, "Yeah?" You croaked.
Jungkook immediately paused to analyse your face, "Have you been crying?" He asked worried.
You rolled your eyes, "No." You stubbornly tried to assure.
Not bothered in the slightest by your attitude, you let him wipe your tears with widened blurry eyes as his face sunk at the sight of you.
For a moment you forgot why you had been crying.
You breathed in his scent as he pushed your head into his neck, "Just tell me who I need to punch." He growled into your ear as he caressed your head.
